Liverpool fans throwing missiles from South Stand Level 3

They say it after every derby game against us. I say every time that we live in a world were we can record anything in an instant, yet not one clip has every emerged of those terrible Everton fans singing songs about Hillsborough. Just like no clips will emerge of City fans singing it last night. It is a deflection, as most things are with them.
I was wondering about that. Hillsborough was trending again on Twitter and it's the usual Liverpool fans claiming riva fans sang Hillsborough songs. It's not true, is it?

At the end of the day this is all happening because Liverpool fans grew really really bitter about City’s recent success, mainly because some of this success came at the expense of Liverpool.

The most intense successes were:

- The 13/14 title
- The 2016 League Cup final
- The 18/19 title
- The 21/22 title

They were also fed newspaper stories to build up their hatred and envy until it got to the point we’re at right now.
Sections of the media have undoubtedly stoked the flames of this. They’re very quick to condemn what is happening, but seemingly unwilling to accept any culpability for it.

Reading the posts in the post match forum and the throwing items thread its clear the email has backfired despite its intentions. It has only served to make the fans feel the club are distancing themselves from us and we are now on our own against the Dippers. Its a real concern now how far this escalates I genuinely feel a serious incident is on the horizon and the club have now lost control of the situation, this has to be the biggest error of judgement so far by the current hierarchy

We need a joint statement from both Clubs explaining that "always the victims" has absolutely nothing to do with Hillsborough and absolutely everything to do with Liverpool failing to take responsibility for their actions.
I’m still waiting for my thank you email from the club for behaving perfectly under extreme provocation and attack from the scousers above. Must be something up with my Internet as I’ve not received anything yet

Solution?

Ban them until they can behave.

At the last community shield between the clubs at Wembley , both clubs had a choir representing mental health charities from the local area , members of each choir had suffered mental health issues and where proudly representing their communities , the Merseyside choir sang Youll never walk alone and you could hear a pin drop in the crowd , there was a resounding applause from all around the stadium..The Manchester choir came on and sang Blue moon , to a chorus of (you've guessed it) boos from the Liverpool supporters ,many members of the choir were visibly upset and baffled by the reaction ... Booing a choir of people with mental health issues , including women and children is one of the most disgusting things i've witnessed from football fans in 50 years of going to matches , unsuprisingly it was glossed over by the scouse loving media , the only reference to the event i've ever seen was on Ian Cheesemans you tube vlog of the day..
Thankyou for that. Another one to add to the very long list of dispicable behaviour that is swept under the carpet by the media.

Can see the logic behind joint statements
I can see the logic of the one before the game, but not the one this morning, almost everything last night was on them, City should have been condeming it, simple as that. There didn't appear to be any/many derogitory chants from us from what I heard either. More than one of our supporters suffered injury it seems, so we shouldn't be doing "joint statements" that appear neutral, not good enough from City.

At least the MEN and GMP now seem to have adopted the right statements, but still not the bbc.

This is very much on the media's hands. It was also the same with chelsea, the media stoked up the hatred there too, I have a friend who is a chelsea fan, she never mentioned liverpool until they suddenly became 'rivals', and the hatred from this lot started. We weren't rivals with liverpool at the time so I thought she was OTT about it, but it's very apparent now, how it came to be, there were similar things with chelsea fans, yet they were accused of being the wrong ones.

Safety first IMHO, not only for the fans but for the team too. I can't see this being fixed it has gone too far.
I think last night was particularly bad, as a result of the larger away cup allocation and the misguided decision to give them the whole third tier. The police decision to let their fans out at the same time as ours was fucking stupid too. I don’t think we’re at the stage where away fans should be banned from the fixture, but lessons need to be learned from last night on all sides.

I just hope you are right, but in my heart of hearts I can't see the Liverpool fans being anything other than themselves unfortunately.

Reminds me of the time I took my little sister to Sheffield Utd away (I think that was the Joe Hart balloon moment?) and it got a bit hostile. They were throwing coins, a few grown men were complaining to police/stewards and I thought ah maybe I shouldn't of taken my 14yr old sister to an away cup match.

Then I see her picking up all the coins, never seen a girl as happy in all my life. She's saying omg why are they throwing money at us? She goes wtf a 50p! Look a 50p! Then shes goes oh wow a quid, a fucking quid. She's beaming. So happy as all these coins are being thrown at us. I'm trying to shield her from them and she's there laughing away in excitement collecting all the coins. Tbf I have always wondered why nt just throw a 2p coin?

Then we were locked in for a bit...again she's still going on about how much money she's collected. Got out the ground and their fans ran us, police horses n stuff getting involved, I'm feeling like maybe I shouldn't of taken her but she's still absolutely buzzing saying this is best game I've ever taken her too.

And yeah, we grew up poor as fuck.

That would only result in a reciprocal ban though, and don’t think anyone wants that.
why? the away end at anfield is shite anyway ;-)

we have had a similar fan ban with millwall if that is what is needed because they cannot behave and won't admit their faults and as such is causing sections of pur fan base to react and go beyond the normal rivalry maybe best we don't see each other for a while.

Final, final post as I saw this and couldn't help but respond.

I had family and friends in the thick of it and know the impact on them. This isn't just football banter to many people.

If I started mouthing off about death to someone else who had been affected by it, even without the horrific circumstances of hillsborough, I would expect a smack in the mouth.

I'll leave it there.
Do you really believe that thousands upon thousands of city fans are singing about hilsborough? Just think about that. That thousands of us are that scummy? Jesus man wake up and smell the coffee
