Arsenal (H) - FA Cup | Post Match Thread

It was refreshing to see our keeper make some great saves instead of the oppositions first shot going in. (Don’t mean to be harsh on Ederson who has contributed to our success)

As for the keepers distribution not being at the game last night I don’t know but what options did he have last night when kicking out? It’s not like at the moment we are bombing on forward in numbers.

6. Since Aguero left we cannot retain possession from a throw in! Our default game plan was simple, find Aguero and he would set the pattern.
From foul throws, to throwing to the opposition, we simply have no game plan.
Other teams know exactly where they are going before picking the ball up, we have no clue, spend far too long thinking about it before giving up possession cheaply.
A basic understanding of football that we regressed on.
I said the same thing part way through last night - How long from our throw-in does it take the opposition to get possession. On the other hand, opposition teams seem to be able to find one of their own players, totally unmarked, and able to carry the ball away. It's a weird one.

I always seem to think it often the ONLY shot!

Haaland did exceptionally well with some of the punts from Ortega, despite being 'roughed' over by their CB. Had the ref been up to the job we'd have had string of free kicks to pin Arsenal back.

We must have been watching different matches. All I saw was him repeatedly lumping the ball up to half way, straight on to an Arsenal head.
Agree, he kept us in the game with his saves and brave dives at feet but distribution wise he was poor. Slow floated balls onto heads that went nowhere and immediately conceded possession.

Just watching last nights ITV match intro, can't believe this bullshit about an arse weekend side and City going full strength. How funny is that, total bullshit, always thought Ederson, Walker, Dias, Cancelo, Laporte, Alvarez and Silva were our main first teamers, not one to be seen on the pitch at kick off.
Very true and Stones, our best player this season, went off injured.

Well done Mancs, through to the next round. When I saw Arteta’s team selection, I realised the FA Cup clearly wasn’t his priority. My point about our not having your strength in depth was proven last night as those that came in to cover are not at the same level. Having said that, we didn’t do too bad against a City side that laboured to beat us. Should be interesting to see how we fare against you at the Emirates.

Pep was really good in the second half. We were lucky to go in 0-0 at half time but in the 2nd half pep worked it out. We had no space and ortega kept having to hit long balls out wide top Mahrez which was never going to work. He brought on Walker for that and he won everything there. Also when martinelli came on Walker suddenly had 2 on 1 all the time as once Mahrez came off no one was really playing on the right wing so bringing Bernardo on solved that. I was a bit Doom and gloom at half time as we were getting out coached and out run but much happier after the second half and much more hopeful. Long balls to Haaland and alverez supporting is a definite plan b that could work. Well done City and pep :)))

Haaland being ‘roughed up’? You’re having a laugh…

Had paid for a ticket on the FA Cup scheme but didn’t go last night. My Google Wallet still showing the Wolves match when I checked last night and this morning so wouldn’t have been able to get in anyway.

What is going on?
Nothing, the bar code works and you would've been sent relocation seat details by email.

Was that your reason for not going?

I think part of the problem for City is that we don't really have a set line up, apart from maybe Ederson and Haaland and of late Grealish and Mahrez. Most other positions are up for grabs based on Pep's interpretations of how he thinks the game will play out. I suppose that is also why it is said we have a big squad, implying bigger than others which is clearly not the case. It is just that Pep likes to rotate, a lot.
