Maddison is no where near the levels of gundogan or Bernardo not to mention David silva. A cm for city has to elite Maddison is not elite and never will be imo. He is just a decent premier league player.

See the same posters who said grealish and Phillips would be brilliant are again talking up Maddison. There is levels and these players aren’t good enough to replace what we have already lost/will lose.
 
Maddison has a lot of ability but may be a bit too much of a luxury player for Pep. He goes missing a lot. I’d prefer to see us use Foden in an attacking midfielder role. In terms of talent, he’s on another level to the likes of Maddison and Mount.

We rarely seem to do that, usually give them time to prove themselves. That being said, I never understood why we signed Phillips. Good player, but not suited for a Pep side, especially as a single DM. Looked quite poor on the ball when he`s played for City, same case at Leeds every time I saw him. If we could recoup the 42m I`d be fine with seeing him go, but as long as he stays I`ll give him time to prove himself. We rarely miss on transfers
 
I do wonder if this signals that KDB may drop deeper next season to play alongisde Rodri if we did sign both Bellingham and Maddison (and dropping Foden to midfield) who are both more attacking midfield players. Assume this is also dependent on Gundo and Bernardo leaving.

It certainly brings the age profile of the squad down and changes pur dynamic to a more attacking side in my opinion. We would potentially lose control on midfield a bit with those players though.
 
I`d rather have Szoboszlai than Maddison as an attacking midfielder. Maddison is good, not denying that, but Szoboszlai is 4 years younger, and I think we`ll get another 2 years out of Kev. Maddison would be 28 at that time, Szobszlai 24
 
So: Maddison, Bellingham, a winger (possibly Leao) and a fullback who ideally could play either side in summer. I’m all for it tbh. Think that would correct basically all our issues with Bellingham offering us legs and brutish force. Maddison and foden coming inside to feed haaland. A proper fullback to offer a different option. A winger to allow foden to play more inside and give us some real pace up top with haaland. Lovely stuff.
 
Dont mind Maddison as the 'other CM' to come in as well as the marquee Jude/Enzo etc.

Its clear we need more numbers, legs and creativity in the middle soon
 
Bellingham and Maddison, can’t complain at that. Newcastle have been trying to get him for a year now?

Maybe if Perrone looks good they are happy for Phillips to be loaned out. I’m all for him staying at city I think he’s a good player but at the same time if he moves on I won’t be too worried. I always wanted JWP over Phillips.
 
I'd like us to have a cheeky bid at Caicedo, he's absolutely class. very young, good passer through the lines, tenacious in the tackle and no doubt a very good presser in the midfield in which I think we really need centrally. Im all for Philips out on loan but get someone like Caicedo in, as close to a Fernandinho/kante type player were gonna get and we are certainly missing someone like Fernandinho in there.

a three of Rodri, Caicedo and de Bruyne/gundogan would fit us nicely I reck. allows both Gundogan and Kev to get rest time and avoid playing them together frequently..


then move for Bellingham in the summer with Gundogan leaving potentially. I feel he's one I can accept leaving in the summer along with Bernardo. He's been amazing for us and a class act but not one I wanna see here for much longer as he's past his peak
