It’s been a staple of English football since the 19th Century.

It’s a bit like playing out from the back.

People need to be convinced that it can work and if we don’t win a game, it’s because we’ve got no pace etc.

People need to remember how David Silva always popped up at the byline in the inside left position. He had no pace, but knew when to go.
You also need some space to run into, pace becomes irrelevant against teams that just sit in their own box for the majority of a match which is what most of our games become.
Quick feet and good footballing intelligence is much more important than pace in those games.

Most of the games we play is 90% in the opponents half anyway with no space behind the fullback until we score
