She may still be under his coercion. This happened to an acquaintance of mine years ago. She was battered beyond belief, he was put on remand for assault and a week later he was out, she'd dropped the charges such was his complete control of her. A year later he murdered her. There was a major kick off after the trial about the conduct of the police and cps and that it wouldn't happen again but obviously nothing has changed. I hope the girl gets away from him, a leopard doesn't change it's spots.
@tweety I was being as sarcastic. Of course he is still in control of her. My point is the joke organisation called the Crown Prosecution Service. They believed there was sufficient evidence to get a conviction for controlling behaviour and then simply accept she wont give evidence. It is a total disgrace.

Varane retiring from International football... is it my imagination or do a large number of rag players retire from International duties at a relatively young age?

Under the pisscan it always felt like a lot of rag players retired early from International football and I always assumed it was down to him bullying and pressuring them into doing so.
Gigg retired every time a squad was announced...

The only thing United are doing during its "own process" is trying to figure out a way minimize the backlash from his return, otherwise no "own process" would be needed. He is already back on their website listed as a player for them, they literally couldnt even wait on hour. If they come up with a story thats good enough for half the fanbase, he stays and protests that will be massive at first will get smaller and smaller the longer time has past. My guess is that he will return to the start of preseason in the summer. They will choose the "he is a victim of false accusations after an argument with his loved one who said some things because she was mad at him" approach. Point out that they are still together (if whats being rumored is true) and that he has not been charged with anything. Then decline to ever comment on the matter again. Former The Sun Chief Football Reporter and now United PR adviser Neil Ashton will tell club journos what to write, Neville will sell the narrative about that "the young boy has not even been charged with anything and deserves a chance" on Sky.

Only way they would actually do the right thing and boot him out is if they fear it would cause a massive backlash from sponsors. Which is not completely ruled out, we all saw the pictures and heard the tapes. But considering what a disgusting club the rags are in every way, my guess is that he will play for them next season.

Legally speaking, he hasn't been convicted of any crime, so what grounds do they have for ending his contract of employment? City are in exactly the same predicament with Mendy. Terminating their contracts would actually be illegal. The clubs could actually end up in trouble for refusing to play them, considering that they were never found guilty of any crime.

They'll probably end up playing in Saudi or China IMO

Until the woke brigade outlaw any reference to rapists like they have done with y**s & r**t b***s…….
Oh come on. I’m Jewish and there’s a bit of a difference between calling someone a rapist, when that person is one, and a bunch of gentiles calling themselves a disgusting anti-Jewish slur.

I’ll have to remember to keep my mouth shut next time I get called a dirty Jew bitch or have to listen to yet another piece of shit blaming us for all the worlds’ problems, wouldn’t want to be woke now, would I?

If you have a dad like hers ....
Sadly a lot of victims of domestic abuse stay or return to their partners. Often its financial, how do you survive on your own with 3 kids and no home ? Whilst I accept this was a different scenario the abuse and violence is the same. As I said earlier I really hope an MP demands to know the full reason. What message does this send to victims.
Getting out of an abusive relationship is easier said than done. Especially if kids are involved. It could be more complicated than ‘she’s a money grabbing whore’.

I’d hate this place to become another rawk seething with deluded dickheads trying to out do each other by spouting the most ridiculous hate possible.
I much prefer the jovial City supporter full of that sharp wit and affability thing that we do at our best
Too late I am afraid. The last couple of years have seen a terrible drop in standards on here.

@FightLikeAGirl I am in agreement with you. Women (mainly) deal with this issue daily. I do NOT think she is a money grabbing whore. (Dad seems to be)
At the risk of boring people; as I keep posting, the CPS decided they had enough evidence to charge Greenwood with controlling behaviour and yet they cave in when she says she won't co-operate. Did they not think he told her to drop the charges ? Are they that stupid ?

It's all good. This gives them more time to go after serious offences. You know, like people singing rentboys at football matches.

Someone just told me that they are still together??

Suppose you can't really prosecute someone when their chief witness is still sleeping in the defendants bed every night.

You put 2 teenagers in a 3 million pound mansion, with Lamborghini's and dropping 100k on jewellery and clothes like it's nothing, then expect the outcome to be normal? It just creates privileged monsters.

Many young footballers go to those private basement parties in Dubai, where you leave your phone at the door and all secrets stay buried. Trafficked girls from Eastern Europe are passed around like sweets. Then they come back here to the UK and think they can do the same. Like it's normal behaviour. Because they are rich and famous.

It's a trend that is pretty sickening. The senior pro's need to step in give them a kick in the bollocks.
Yep
Rio should step up to the plate to advise them!!

They’re in a difficult position though. They can only proceed with a prosecution if there’s a realistic chance of conviction. Proving controlling and coercive behaviour under any circumstances is notoriously difficult. Under what we’re assuming these circumstances are, it would be next to zero.

Why are you posting about this in here (a thread about united - not City). Nobody mentioned the Southampton quarter final until you did, the discussion was actually about united v Newcastle in the final, until you decided to change the subject.

If you seriously think that united don't get helped by certain officials you must be blind, and since liverpools demise this year, they seem to be getting even greater help.
I'm not saying they don't, but why are blues discussing on here already that Newcastle will get dicked by the officials, my original point was about if we weren't so shit in that game that I am apparently not allowed to talk about, then we could have stopped them getting a trophy, hope that clears it up for you

I am discussing United being helped by officials. You are talking about City’s performance against Soton. They are not related discussions. My posts are on topic. Yours are not, and include personal insults for no reason at all.

Stop derailing the thread and using personal (in at least one deleted post, homophobic) insults.
Personal Insults? You were discussing united getting helped by officials in a game that hasn't even been played yet, so that's on topic is it? PS have you got tomorrow's euromillions numbers?

Thankfully Mendy’s contract is coming to an end. I fully expect Greenwood to stay at the rags unless sponsors make a noise. Might be why they signed that lanky one for 6m knowing that he would be back.

United can just buy him out of his contract if they have no legal reason to terminate his deal. Terminating the contract is not the only way to get rid of a player, if you have no intention of playing them. City are not in the exakt same predicament with Mendy since his contract expires in the summer anyway so he is gone regardless.
