PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

I guess submitting fraudulent accounts for the best part of a decade, which is essentially what they’re accusing us of, would fall into that category.

I just don’t see either how we could realistically have done that, or how they would even prove it if we had, given our heavily audited accounts, level of scrutiny etc. It seems an incredibly high bar they’ve set themselves here.

This is what I find odd. Why didnt the pl take action in the first year ?

It could have been a simple mistake that the pl could have nipped in the bud. Instead they let it go on for over a decade !. Wouldnt that lead to the pl being complicit by allowing City to do this ?

I dont think City have done anything wrong.

The pl isnt fit to run itself, you have to give confidently information about you accounts to the pl. Which I guess would end up in the hands of the dippers and rags. After all the dippers and rags vetted the chairman.

But the one question that has never been answered, who gave the pl a tip off or did the pl just decide to go after City because we became successful ?
If every club in the pl have their accounts checked this deeply going back decades, fair enough.

I dont think that happens, so to go after just one member of the pl is that legal ? Isn't that victimisation.

It's ok to have money laundering for gun running as a shirt sponsor lol.

Also is it legal to stop or control a business owner using his money to build his business ? Isnt that against the law.

At the end of the day it's a fucking WITCHHUNT.

I really want to believe you but no matter how professional these panel members are they will have biases like we all do. I just can’t see how they will rule against those who instruct them. The same as how unsurprisingly UEFAs panel sided with them.
On that last point, I'm not sure if they even bothered to look at any evidence.
More of a 'FFS, just sign this off or we run out of time,' scenario...triggered by our giving them all the evidence on the last day of their own allowable window...which resulted in them being hoisted y their own petard.

This time, I suspect the panel might be open to a LOT more scrutiny themselves, to do things properly, as they will have both the time, and obligation to do so...

Think it was mentioned on Twosips video about are all other clubs Squeeky clean and someone said along the lines of “hand your phone over now then” analogy
I bet no one in that studio would no matter how straight down the line they might feel they are.
Why would anybody hand over all documents to a organisation that has opened up an investigation on you without knowing exactly what they were going to do with them.

The funny thing is we let them off but it shouldn’t have been up to us, regardless of any payment the premier league should’ve, should charge them.
They cheated and then payed their way out of it.
We know what would happen the other way round.
Liverpools case - time barred
City’s case - 2009
Clear as fucking day.
Dead right.

Imagine if we'd been a Bournemouth etc the dips could have paid us off & got us to make a shady statement.....we were fucking idiots but, the point is it shouldn't matter what the clubs say as it long-term effects every other team in the Prem too.

Amongst other stuff If Barca hadn't paid all that money for a player they got from our data the results could have been very different......step on a spider and the chain reaction changes the world.

Arrogance?

Never understood why we and others never fought FFP, if we had none of this would have taken place.
our club feels that FFP will protect us once we are are established.
The very rules that are there to stop us will defend us against other clubs getting a cash injection and breaking into the top four.

Our owner was not wanted by the establishment lfrom day 1
.
This attitude will remain as long as he continues his investment.

The PL biased rules are for City particularly to observe to the letter both on and of the field.
Not fair of course but it is their rules so they don't intend it to be fair.
Their message continues to say to Sheikh M we told you not to invest in our league.

Surely we understand this will never change by now.?

Yes, our strategic error was to think we would eventually be accepted by the self-styled elite here and in Europe and so went with decisions such as "taking a pinch" when we should really have just steam-rollered the fuckers from the start.

On a side note there are some right downers on this thread, most of them fairly long-standing members too. Disappointing really.

The aim here is all out corporate damage. The hope that sponsors walk and we can’t attract. The hope that Pep walks, players want away, transfer targets think twice….

I’ve little doubt the punishment will be 2-3 years of transfer bans and relegation meaning no CL, no CL revenues and no big players coming and many wanting away.

We have a huge fight on our hands sadly as I don’t see anyone coming to fight our corner here.
We have got some top people fighting our corner.

That's the general view of a Middlesboro fan at work. He can't believe that this would happen if there weren't something there (ergo, we must be guilty).

And that the only reason CAS didn't charge us was because of time-barring.
And that we will just pay them off again this time.

He's normally quite intelligent when it comes to work...
Most people go with 'there's no smoke without fire' approach. They can't help themselves
If they hear something repeated in the news or on tv a few times they start to believe it. Then it becomes a fact. But, if you ask them to explain why they believe what they do and provide some facts they will often reply 'there's no smoke without fire' and not consider the possibility that someone may have been wrongly accused or been subjected to a witch hunt.

The reality on most things in life is we all have opinions on things, but in most cases we don't have any facts. We are relying on what we hear or read in the press or what is on tv.

The media have done a job on City and its worked. If City had not had the investment The Shits and The Dippers would have won the PL instead. This tells me where this pressure is coming from.

In high school, in rural Kansas, in the fall of 2001, I read a book about my favorite rockstar called “Touching From A Distance,” and made the decision that Manchester City would be my soccer team. My cousin, who lived in Kansas City (proper) and was able to play the sport while I had to sort out basketball and gridiron football, was an absolute rag. He laughed at me because I couldn’t even watch my club play because America did not show Div 1 matches. I did not care, f em.

As someone who along with his dad attendedevery home game for quite possibly the worst American football college during their worst years of 1992-2004, Kansas University, I did not realize how perfect this union between man and club actually would reveal itself to be. The worse we got, the more we’d lean into this program.

In particular, the gallows humor: as a fan of the generally struggling baseball team the Kansas City Royals, I was immediately familiar. Fans used to call in to local sports talk radio and be as funny as possible with their complaints. Once, I heard a guy get kicked off the show for suggesting that the Royals should trade Johnny Damon (just about a Cancelo) for a horse and a pack of gum. When the host asked “Why is that?” The fan responded “So we can chew the gum while we f* the horse.”

I’m getting flooded with messages from a group chat full of Americans who chose their clubs for reasons just as stupid as mine, but I can tell they don’t feel what I feel. They’re plastic. They talk about glories they never witnessed. I mean there’s a Liverpool fan who didn’t even see their last title talking about the 20th century. A rag so young Ferguson never could have seen him. A spurs fan who doesn’t mind the lack of silverware because he’s older than metallurgy. No Arsenal fans really, because they probably like us now.

Whatever happens, F em. CTID.

It as been their preferred way from the start, softly softly. And we all knew it wouldn't work.

Who knows what the butterfly effect was of this, it’s well documented we brought forward a few signings including Ferna, but what of Liverpool’s signings ? They’ve just had their most successful period since the eighties, how much of that was down to this episode ? People love to base our success on a foundation of cheating etc, but maybe that’s the perfect deflection for some

Stefan made some very interesting points in his latest podcast.

Firstly, it’s inexplicable, given the time frames, that we could not sit down in a room with the boffins in the PL and not arrive at some sort of deal that saved the face of both parties, and saved millions and millions in the process.

Secondly, given the magnitude, gravity and complexity of the allegations, and everything that this sort of case brings with it in terms of evidence and witnesses, a 3 member PL panel is completely ill-equipped to deal with the demands of such a case.

Thirdly, and very importantly, if (and I emphasise if) we are found to have falsified information, then the biggest losers are we, the diehard fans. Our Board has stewardship over the management of the club. They owe a duty to us to manage the affairs of City in a manner that ensures we, as fans, can enjoy the fruits of their labour.

When I consider all of this, I’m not normally a conspiracy theorist. I don’t believe that Michael Jackson and Elvis are hanging out in some dark dingy bar in Tennessee.

However, the timing of this announcement, the manner in which was announced (complete with journalist tipoff), the vague sweeping nature of the charges, and the nature of the current leadership of the PL, leads me to a conclusion that we have been well and truly set up.

With regards to the first part, is there still a chance this happens or has that ship sailed? That is that all parties sit round a table and sort this shit out negating the need for a long drawn out expensive process?

I wonder how this Premier League Kangaroo court attempt to drag down the reputation of City and our owners will look alongside the huge political Energy security deal the UK have signed with the UAE. Vast sums of money and jobs could be impacted because the PL choose this moment to attack our owners . Watch this space.

Every time we’ve tried to create a relationship with the Dippers & Rags they’ve still tried to obliterate us.

Maybe this was fairly early but never again should we make any efforts with these.

Never, never, ever!
We never learn, rip our security off, no probs just buy us a pint, chuck stuff and endanger our paying customers, don't worry about it we'll put out a generic joint statement & don't get me going on the media.

City are too soft by far, I'd hope at some point the penny will drop and we'll start to hit back and be the bully rather than the bullied.

Pussies are us.
Been pissing me off for a long time

I credit our owner and Mr K with proving that proper financial investment over a prolonged period of time gives best results. I think fear of this policy was their main reason to try to block him.

Our owners will protect their investment using their own tactics which may allow the media and our enemies to grab a pawn or two but I'm absolutely convinced that their financial grip on this situation will ensure City will continue its original progress under their direction.
