PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

Bayern Munich have bigger revenues on sponsorship than City. This is Bayern Munich playing in the Bundasliga which is a mere back water than no one cares about globally compared to the Premier League. This is Bayern Munich with related parties such as Allianz, Addidas and Volkswagen.

Why would City not winning the Premier league 4 out of 5 times and reaching the latter stages of the champions league not see that turn into revenue and more interested parties wanting to come on board as commercial partners?

If you apply Neville’s logic that clubs who have always dominated will have bigger commercial draw than City, where are Preston North End? Where are AC Milan? The guy is a fucking idiot and I’d be worried if I supported Salford with him in charge.
I suspect Neville knows exactly what he's saying is bollocks, he's an agenda driven twat.

I had to read this shit, so everyone else does.

Don't you just hate it when Americans write about our game? I love his "fairness is a necessity in sports" quote. Fairness is also a necessity in journalism and this hit piece (or more appropriately, shit piece) gives no regard to the notion that we might actually be innocent. The low-intelligence calibre of journalist reflects on a piss-poor education system.

Gary Neville said yesterday our team selection was Pep making a point to the club and asking "why haven't you bought me a left back?"

Every week that man provides so many insights into just how fucking thick he really is.
This insight is the reason he was such a failure at Valencia and was sacked four months after he was appointed.

I actually laughed out loud at this line: "Manchester City was banned from European football for two seasons as a result of UEFA’s charges, but never faced any real consequences: It won an appeal in the summer of 2020".

City the most vaunted club. Probably looks at xG to claim a team were better even though they lost 4 to 1, like the most clueless people tend to.

I just love being lectured by yanks on the morals of life and all that. Then again they never did/do get irony.

Little Gary Neville has said the following....

'But I do think when you present figures that are higher than Manchester United's commercial revenue, it is going to start raising eyebrows because Manchester United are global superpower when it comes to commercial revenue, so I can see why the Premier League are looking into it."

City have the best manager in the world, some of the best players, playing great football, significant investment globally, great leadership and become a global brand etc etc so it is not that surprising City are rubbing shoulders with old elite.

Utd have been a club in decline for some time with limited investment in the club with the exception of transfers etc.

So, to use a parallel, I know Amazon are not perfect in some ways. They were a pipedream of Bezos approx 2000.

Things change Gary. I think what he really means is he is envious...just admit it Gary. The tectonic plates have shifted Gary. Wake up.

Last 5 or so years, absolutely. Before that, not so much. Right or wrong, it would have raise eyebrows, even amongst blues.

Doesn't mean it warrants an investigation though, or is even inaccurate or breaching ffp rules.

The people who'll consider the case will be independent of the PL, extremely eminent and absolutely professional. Their integrity will be unquestioned.

I don't have any worries over whether the proceedings will be conducted fairly.
Similar point came up on one of my WhatsApp chats recently. Murray Rosen is King's Council, so will be more concerned about his integrity than point scoring between City & Arsenal.

I usually like his stuff but didn't like his headline on this. There is nothing in what he has demonstrated that would help him reach the conclusion that 'maybe' we are guilty. Quite the opposite. He uses excellent financial information to demonstrate exactly how our business plan has worked and worked brilliantly. I thought Colin did a far better job of putting the charges into context on Cheesys blog without the help of all them fancy charts.
He is entitled to say “maybe” but the critics will use that as more fodder.

He was desperate to create the narrative that Pep had made a mistake with Cancelo & Bernardo was struggling. I thought Bernardo was outstanding in his 3,6,8,11,7 role.
Everything Neville says is for the benefit of Neville's personal agenda.
He's to football management what Simon Jordan is to club ownership.
Both failed miserably in a role that they claim to be experts on whilst trying to preach and lecture everyone else.

The Odious Toad from The BBC has spoken!

The Crooks of the Matter

When the news broke that Manchester City had been charged with more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules, it was clear there would be repercussions.

When it became apparent that these alleged contraventions were between 2009 and 2018, fans around the country were outraged.

City's accusers have alleged systematic wrongdoing over a long period of time. Should City lose this case, the punishment must be severe.

In a recent press conference, manager Pep Guardiola struggled to contain his contempt for the decision by the Premier League to charge his club - stating, indignantly, that they had already been sentenced.

The quality of football produced by City under the guidance of Guardiola has been breathtaking at times - but this is not about football. It is about the way the game is governed. City cannot afford to lose this battle because everything they have is riding on this fixture.
