He is absolutely awful at defending. His ability to help in our supposed "build up" is also overrated.
He's a good passer of the ball.

When Rodri plays alone at CDM without anyone else dropping back and opponents block off the lanes to him, that leaves our defenders only able to pass between themselves or go long.

Akanji, Ake and Dias (for all their other qualities) don't have a lot of passing vision.

So in the absence of Stones (who has both an eye for a pass and the ability to carry the ball forward out of defence), we need Laporte to do some of those line-breaking passes if we want to go forward with any pace.

Closing your eyes to head a ball(unmarked) at goal from 4 yrds out instead of picking your spot is borderline criminal.
Cost us the 3pts in my opinion

Why was he even picked today? Was Ake injured? If not why did Pep feel the need to change the CB pairing yet again. I don’t know any other side that do this. It’s madness.
With Ake injury history it is not difficult to understand Pep wants to manage his minutes. But in my opinion he should bring Ake on into LB position and push Bernado to RW of bring Mahrez on around 60-70min today.

Think yesterday isn't a perfect example of why he's likely to leave and why it probably won't be too big a miss

Was he directly responsible for the goal? No he wasn't

But there just seems a softness about us whenever he plays, not sure if it's his concentration, he's not great at tracking runners and he never makes a game changing stop, the challenges he makes you'd expect him to

A lot of ways he's similar to Ederson, great on the ball but a soft touch, and while he isn't necessarily directly responsible for goals he isn't the one to pull out a game changing stop/challenge

Just watched a replay of the equalizer and he simply lets the forest player run past him. wtf.
Surely Bernardo started the shite by stepping out and exposing the left side,
Laporte got exposed and was too far out left
but fuck me Laporte stopped running back. As a CB, madness.

If the rumours of Gvardiol coming in are true, then we definitely won't be bringing in a shrinking violet defensively. Will be interesting to see him at close quarters on Wednesday.

I don't blame him. It is on Pep to not sub Ake on when Forest put all force attacking Bernado side. Terrible game management.

Player is human. Laporte sometimes fades after 70min. It is understandable he had a terrible injury and did not have a good run of game afterwards. Pep should put some support on to finish the game.
