PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

There's no doubt several journo's trawl this forum for information. Jack Vaughan (aka arctic) was sent my original post by someone else, inference being another journalist, probably in the infamous WhatsApp group.

Plenty of stuff posted on here is lifted by the press, FFP being the most obvious as there are posters on this forum who have a vastly better understanding of its mechanics. This thread is a rich source of data for any media hack who has got little or no understanding of the charges, the potential punishment or the defence the club will present to the panel.

On 25 January, in the "Chelsea fans throwing missiles from South Stand 3rd tier" thread, I posted a long list of security measures that were to be implemented by the Club for the Arsenal FA Cup game, all of which came to fruition. This included the intention of City to erect safety netting for season 23/24, the first Premier League club to take such measures.

2 weeks later, on the 9 February, I give you Mike Keegans "exclusive" in the Daily Fail.

Man City are set to install NETTING around Etihad away end to protect their fans after incidents involving Liverpool - including a 15-year-old girl being 'scarred for life' by a pint cup filled with coins

I don't understand what the problem is? If posters here educate us all on FFP and the charges etc, don't you also want journalists to be educated?

Like I said, not every journalist at the mail is against City. Tolmie has mentioned that Jack Gaughan is included in some of the briefs by the club.

It all depends on the content of the recordings doesn’t it ? For example, if it’s something on the lines of “give the goal , we are not having Manchester City win this game” then that’s tantamount to curruption , if it’s a recording that just says “give the goal I see nothing wrong” then we wouldn’t have a leg to stand on, as Dodge said , this happened at a recent City away game, and it was plain wrong that that goal at Old Trafford (if it was that game) didn’t go to a onside pitch review of the incident. That decision was disgusting that more than likely cost us a point maybe three.
If the voice is a third party e.g. the match commander that is tantamount to corruption as only the VAR and the ref can make that determination.

I bet Webb has a burner mobile phone (a new one for every single phone call), he still talks to Ferguson every day.

Can we make a seperate thread for the supposed VAR recording?
Why? Think we can all agree it’s a non starter. You don’t hold something like that without making it public or improving our own “situation”. Real or not we will never know.

If you have information and your above posts suggest the press reported accurately information previously, surely it would be a good thing if this got wider exposure?

Remind me, who does he work for?

Why does that matter? City also have 'go to' journalists at the Mirror and the Daily Star. I don't like either of those organisations either.

The best journalist on FFP etc was Martin Samuel and he worked at the Mail for years.

I don't like ESPN but they employ Nedum Onuoha to analyse games.

If your information is true, wouldn't you want a 'go to' City journalist to investigate it and bring it to a wider audience? Otherwise it's just, and will remain, a fansite rumour.

Whilst I can understand journos need to trawl everywhere, it is their job I believe, I can honestly say I knew zero about FFP at the time of its introduction.

Reading these threads has been educational so maybe it should be adsorbed by as many fans of other clubs as possible.

And the same goes for Sports Journalists. I see no issue taking info from this thread or any other as long as its accurate and informative. Can only be a positive in my mind.

I doubt a journalist would PM a forum member about fan site gossip , unless said journalist had wind of it himself? Putting meat on the bones , listen , plenty of people are well connected on here , it’s not just full of fanboys who started supporting the club since 2012.
