He's a good, reliable 7/10 performer every week. Sometimes 8/10. But with Stones and Laporte back fit, he should really be on the bench because we need better

Never 7/10. 6 at best. Take the blue tinted spectacles off. Watch him closely. Passes are sideways or backwards. Loses numerous headers. Loses possession regularly in dangerous positions. Should be 5th choice centre half at best. I’ll support him when he pulls the shirt on but he really isn’t a good defender.

I stand by 7/10 because we need 9s and 10s

I really don’t understand how he keeps getting game time. He’s a liability. Pep obviously sees something that I don’t, but it does baffle me. His passing is average, he panics when he’s pressed, he’s weak in the air and he’s not the quickest. Maybe I’m not seeing his true value but he really slows us down and in my opinion makes us weaker defensivel.
That’s probably why pep is a top manager and hmmm your are not

I hate putting a downer on a strong win but the performance from Akanji was awful. This is probably the third time in a row he has played like this.
Hopefully now Stones is fit, he can resume his partnership with Dias. Not holding my breath though

He was fine today, still rather see Stones & Dias together but Pep obviously a big fan.

He's a good player , but for me there are four more centre backs better than him at the club , he's a decent defender , but Dias , Stones and Laporte are better bringing the ball out of defence and better distirbution
If everyone is fit it is the Stones & Dias partnership all day long.

Decent enough although I want Laporte to get back into match contention soon.
You might but it seems Guardiola doesn’t. For some reason Akanji fits the bill and to be fair to him, for most of the season he’s done what he’s been asked to do.

Dortmund were all too happy to let him leave on the cheap too, he really doesn’t fill me with confidence.

For 15m he represents very good value. He's a decent enough player and that shows with some of his interceptions & reading of the game however, where he needs to improve is all about distribution. He takes far too many touches then rushes passes. Some of the Dortmund clips I saw showed him passing quickly to Erling's feet. We have not seen any of that and often his poor passing leads to him having to make those last ditch tackles in the first place.

We all know John is by far our best option alongside Ruben.

Overall 15m for a 3rd or 4th choice centre back is ok but he's not the answer to play every game hence why we are in deep for Gvaridol. Seems a good guy and for 15-20 odd games a season he's fine.
