Arsenal Thread - 2022/23

Leeds, West Ham Chelsea and Southampton don’t worry me (famous last words). Newcastle seem to have fallen away slightly. We could obviously drop points in any of those, it always happens when you least expect it (ie Everton and Brentford recently). But I’m not sitting here sweating about those games.

Massively worried about pool and city away though. I think for a change, we just have to play for a draw and not get beat. It’s not arsenals way but we have to learn that we don’t always have to win the game.

Newcastle have lost 2 games in 2023 so they’ve taken points off the opposition in 7/9. They’ve lost to us & the Dippers so it doesn’t matter they’ve fallen away they are tough to beat.

Could be worse, we could be Man Utd who are 8pts clear at the top...

Then again you've already shown you can catch those cunts when they have a 8pt lead.

Leeds in the next match aside, Arsenal has Liverpool away, West Ham away, Southampton at home, us away, Chelsea at home, Newcastle away, Brighton at home before the final two matches. If we can't catch-up/overtake them by then, they probably deserve it.

They will drop points in these fixtures, 3 against us, and maybe up to 5 points in the other ones. That's 8 points, so if we do our part, we will be three points ahead with two matches to go.

You’ve completely discounted the possibility that City might drop points also? You do have 8 games in the 30 days of April.

I think we have an easier set of fixtures, but we can drop points, of course.
In the past 10 years, this City team has a history of going on winning streaks when it matters, and Arsenal hasn't been in this position for a while, so I think we have an advantage here, experience wise.
We need to win pretty much everything to stand a chance unless Arsenal drops more points than expected. This international break doesn't come at a good time for us because we were scoring for fun recently, so we will see how it is vs Liverpool. The result will be very telling for the rest of the season.

But we are not Leicester or Blackburn. Aside from city, we have the strongest team in the league and some of the best players. Why should we suddenly fall away next season? I see nothing that makes me think Utd pool or Chelsea will significantly overtake us next year to the point where we can’t even make top 4.
But can’t play twice a week…

Journalist Luke Edwards on BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast: "Arsenal look like title winners and that would be a great result for the Premier League because they are one of those clubs who haven't won the league for a long period of time."

Where does this notion come from? Couldn’t be the Ghost of Scudamore, could it?

Like many have posted before, where was this narrative “back in the day,” when Liverpool and United had their eras of dominance? Wasn’t it smiles all around when they bought earned their Titles?

The ABC crowd is growing, even if the vast majority of them quietly hate Arsenal. ABC is just more important to them. Wonder why? I guess Russian and now American billionaires are somehow better than Abu Dhabi billionaires!
