The Conservative Party

the big question is what happens now the SNP have imploded…
Interesting choice of language that echoes what the English media have been keen to use. The SNP has had a leadership contest but still holds power in Scotland and still holds seats in Westminster. The Conservative Party had just as acrimonious a contest last summer but for some reason it wasn’t described as imploding.

I expect the Tories to win the next election with a very small majority, the big question is what happens now the SNP have imploded plus Starmer is uninspiring.

He is a liberal globalist rather than a socialist internationalist.

The Tory anti immigration stance has legs, it appeals to the base interests of English nationalism, dressed up as English patriotism. Stopping small boats is an incredibly powerful message to send to communities that have virtually no immigration at all. The "OTHERING" of people wins votes,

A few pages back i posted a quote by Mussolini, the UK is not heading towards nazism, but it shows signs of heading towards fascism.

You are right as well our democratic system is a fucking joke, it is designed to preserve the rights of the privilged,
The SNP haven’t ‘imploded’. They are more a political movement than party and what we are seeing is their breadth of views being exercised by a left wing candidate vs a couple of ‘conservatives’. As long as a large % of the Scottish populace support independence then the SNP vote will hold up if for no other reason than the alternatives are quite dreadful. Vote for Tory boy Starmers party in Scotland? Aye right.

Can’t excuse Sunak entirely, but I would cut him just a tiny amount of slack in that regard. He spent the whole of last summer warning all and sundry that Truss’ ideas would be a complete disaster, and it took less than 49 days for that to be confirmed.
Sunak supported Brexit, which has damaged the economy more than Truss's 49 days

Perfectly and painfully aware of that, but my comment only pertained to the fact that he can’t be held responsible for the events of those 49 days. For the rest, he’s entirely culpable.

Unlikely, to put it mildly.

Not a fascist policy to label criminals is it?

Tories want ASBO kids to wear jacket to identify them making it nice and easy for Gary Gammon to smack them.
It’s another tinkering around the edges policy when there are gaping holes in the middle, but when you have no money, that’s what you’ll get.

Jesus Christ. They really have lost the plot, or are speaking to people without the sense they were born with, carefully nurtured to fruition.

In general, this is such a miss the point moment, where the main focus seems to be on the key policy pillar of the use of 'hi-viz jackets', that I'm pretty sure they are throwing the next election.

There are only two ways I can think of, which would reasonably be expected to end "anti-social behaviour" for once and for all.

1. Stop using the term "anti-social behaviour". Forever.
2. Eradicate every last human from existence.

And thinking about it, number one is only possible if we enact number one.

That is the only way anything to do with humans will ever be, "For once and for all".
How do they propose getting the yobs to repare the damage in two days when the courts are backed up for miles ? Are they saying if you are murdered or raped the person has their court appearance put back so yobs can go to court within a day ? Bollocks as usual, all dog whistle stuff without making sense as usual

And the half-hearted attempts at "restorative justice" haven't really gelled. The bottom line is which approach is most likely to prevent re-offending.

And Bash Street's ASB is Eton's "high spirits".

Similar system (not) operating already in Scotland, where, thanks to the lack of staff and the pandemic, there is a huge backlog.

Forgive me if I am wrong; as Mrs Q tells me I always am; but raising interest rates is aimed at reducing demand by making borrowing more expensive? But if demand is already reduced and people are not buying anything how does this work? All it is doing is hiking up mortgages and reducing the number of people able to move or buy a home thus reducing people’s incomes at a time we should be encouraging spending and this would lead to growth. Inflation will automatically come down over the next few months anyway as the fuel price rises feed out. Inflation isn’t being fuelled by wages and people going out and overspending on credit as it has been in the past. It doesn’t make sense to me to ask people not to want wage increases and for firms not to pass on the extra cost of higher interest rates.

Perhaps an economist on here can explain for us please?

Amongst the many things that piss me off about this Government, I hate the way an incoming PM seems to disregard any questionable decisions taken by their predecessors.

13 years of shite and it's like the post-calamity enquiries we used to have at work. "Nothing to do with me. I was on holiday." They're equally responsible for all the fuck-ups.

If the Tories have finally given up their “Boris” habit, they deserve little credit. They came to it late and only when their calculus of self-preservation told them it was safe. But they have at least shown who – perhaps alone – can topple these would-be strongmen. The courts can’t do it; even the voters can’t always do it. The power, and responsibility, lies with those who acted as their enablers. The grim truth is that, too often, the only people who can bring down these terrible men are the ones who put them there in the first place.

Yes I am and I am serious.

No chance
