A quick point about Erling breaking the season scoring record (42 games) and now going for Dixie Dean’s all comps record:

Dixie Dean will have played basically every minute of every match back when he set his record, whilst Erling has regularly gotten taken off well before the end of matches.

Erling’s goals per minute will be substantially higher than Dean’s if we had the latter’s minutes played stats.

Insane to think Alfie's lad is even in contention for Dean's 63 goal record . And he'll improve next season........;-))))))

He probably played pretty much every minute of those 39 games, though, as in-game substitutions weren't a thing back then.


Is the all-comps record 61 goals? I think I heard somewhere that it was the 60 league goals, plus only one other goal.

I thought it was 63 all comps?
