I agree, I hope we sign someone top-notch, but it will probably be some sort of surprise because there are no concrete, realistic rumours. This is what I think will happen:

Mac Allister - Liverpool
Rice - Arsenal
Bellingham - Real
Kimmich - wants to stay
FDJ - wants to stay
Wirtz - not rumoured
Barella - not rumoured

Anyway, I am probably missing a few, but we are currently not publicly in the mix for anyone. It will probably be Kovacic. I hope he steps it up here.

Bellingham should choose his club wisely on who can ensure they can manage that knee correctly.
He's been playing with lots of tape/strapping on his knee since before the world cup.

I am not saying he is better than Walker because he isn't, but to say he is not good enough? Who is? He has been a regular for France and Bayern Munich for years. It would be difficult to find someone with a better resume currently available. World-class, IMO. I would swap him for Cancelo in a heartbeat. I wouldn't sell him to any PL team, that's for sure.

If you took away Cancelo’s bad attitude then Pavard isn’t fit to lace his boots. I know England are stocked at right back, but Pavard wouldn’t make the squad literally every english right back from the world cup squad is better than him - Walker, James, Trent, Trippier. Probably even Wan Bissaka!

Would honestly rather stick with our current options of 33 yo Walker with Lewis, Stones, Akanji all capable of slotting in there when required than to sign Pavard.

Bayern interest in Mahrez is mainly because of Tuchel. He wanted Mahrez when he was PSG Manager and when he was at the helm at Chelsea before Mahrez signed his extension with City.

I don’t think there is much precedent for Bayern signing a player of his age. Not sure it is a move Mahrez wouLd want.

I don't see Mahrez wanting to move.. he's got a manc wife and kids.. when Jesus and Sterling were looking for more money and more playtime.. he was just happy to say.. I want to stay at City.
 
I know our summer plans hinge on the futures of Bernardo and Gundogan, and they’re both incredible players, even if they don’t get the external credit they deserve, but for me we don’t need ‘replacements’ as such.

We’re never going to find someone with the same ability as Gundogan in tight spaces, or his eye for goal. Similarly we’ll not find anyone with Bernardo’s close control and willingness to run.

But we’ll find alternatives and adapt to the qualities we do have, just as we did when Kompany, Fernandinho, Silva, Sane, Aguero (etc) left.

We don’t have the same ‘energy’ in the side as we did in 2027-19 but we adapted and moved towards a more pragmatic, possession based style.

I’ve got total confidence in the club to bring in the right players, and in Pep to adapt to whatever weapons he’s got at his disposal.

Edit: Mahrez linked to Bayern through French publication Africafoot. Apologies was reading in haste yesterday lunchtime and updated here in evening.
