That's what everyone thought when they bought koulibaly, mudryk, Enzo, lukaku, ziyech, thiago Silva, the list literally goes on and on.
They just never seem to get it right.
 
I think the Kovacic being depth talk is the fact he can play both 6 and 8. So basically adds depth due to playing multi position. We could have Gundo and Kov in the sam team easy. But I think Gundo is off which is why we are now in the Rice talk. We can use Phillips to get that deal done and Kov can still cover 6/8. We go from Rodri/Gundo/Phllips to Rodri/Rice/Kovacic.

Well yeah but Akanji and Ake were signed as depth and not replacements for anyone. Same goes for Kovacic, he ain’t replacing Gundo or Bernardo. He with Foden going in centrally with McAtee behind him we still would need a Gundogan replacment if needs be

Well it sounds like they were for Gvaurdiol and Kovacic. They may well have know exactly of who else they want if certain players leave. They will stay on ice until they know whats needed.
So in that way they were and are ready to go.

he's taking about the charges case starting, not the transfers.

Even though the original post is about something else I agree with this. City stances will change fast and hard when they know what Gundogan, Mahrez, Laporte and Bernardo wants to go.

If they get a 9 then I think they will be. Providing Poch is ruthless and the board don’t bow down to players being unhappy like they have done in the past.

We might, though with KDB, Foden, Kovacic, Alvarez, Mcatee, available if one of Gundogan or Bernardo stay not sure anyone else would come in for midfield ( maybe a wide player) only if both left I think we’d possibly go for another midfielder.
