Kyle Walker

What would we get from him? I don't expect Bayern to offer more than 15-20 million. I would rather keep it for a year and let him go for free next year. Also, he rarely gets injured.
His speed would still be needed against teams with fast wingers.
He missed 11 games 2022/23 with a groin injury.

Big reset.

Walker, Laporte, Mahrez, Gundogan, Bernardo, all approaching their last big contracts (add in Cancelo to the mix). All of them have now completed the set. Mahrez has especially after winning the AfCON as well in 2019.

It's hard to find the hunger inside yourself to go again once you've won everything. Pep would rather give minutes to players like Bobb and McAtee who are young lads wanting to prove themselves. Transition begins.
Exciting times. Hopefully a fresh squad makes Pep stay even longer.

I think you’re missing the real issue though. After a treble and three-peat, some players will be mentally finished at City. Nothing left to achieve, no hunger to drive them. It’s the same reason why Pep will most likely complete the contract he has already committed to and then no more. It’s job done for almost everyone that’s been here over a certain number of years, manager included. Just the price of success. But the hierarchy are showing that they know the score by allowing Walker, Mahrez etc to leave if the offers come. It might not feel like it right now but these are good things.
Even I’m exhausted and needing a break before next season. Can’t imagine how the players that have had 6 or 7 years of Pep intesity are feeling thinking about going again. Fully understand a few might just want to wind down for their last contract now they’ve achieved so much.

Said after we lost;
Merlin
Vinny
Sergio
Zabba…

and yet we still continue to win silverware.

Now Pep is going to be REALLY difficult to replace…
It was difficult to replace those four!

I have the utmost faith in Txiki and co to come good again :)

You've got to stay ahead of the game to be able to stay in it.

Players will come, some will go, but while we have the people that currently in charge on all levels everyone else will be playing catch up. Many will copy, most will fail. Pep is the innovator that they all secretly envy.

We've always had a long term strategy. Take a look at any of the chasing pack and tell me how many have a structure as good as ours ?

Best of luck Kyle. You've been immense.

It makes sense that Kyle leaves now. We probably were only offering a year extension (if that), he’s won all there is to win with us (apart from the minor trophies players don’t really care much about), he was obviously not going to be getting as many minutes as he would like next season, and his entire game is based on his athleticism and pace, so when that even starts going a little, he’ll drop several levels.

He wants to do something new before his body fails him.

He goes with my thanks for his contributions to our immense success.

Is there any better sight in world football than Kyle Walker on one of his recovery tackles? I've loved following Kyle during his time with us. What a player. Good luck to the lad.

Can't help but see this as part of a silly season intrigue involving Bayern, Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, Us.

he is in the top 10 for most played minutes last season..played the FA cup final/ 2 games against Real & other big games...he`s is cry baby if he complains about game time or CL final...dissapointing...expected more from an english player who is 6 years at the club..could have stayed at least another 2 years

Would have liked Walker to stay absolutely can still do a job for us,but maybe he decided it was time to go himself along with the club’s agreement, anyhow he’ll like it over there as there’s no shortage of brothels ;-)

It's a tough one to take but it's a business at the end of the day and it makes sense to cash in now unfortunately

Who has said anything about complaining about game time?

He fancies a move away, it doesn’t matter the reasoning, he’s more than earned it over the last 6 years.

I know this rumoured move kind of makes sense , for both parties. On rhe other hand, it also doesn't that much.

Walker being here one more year is worth more than say £30m that is probably the top end of what we can hope for. His hunger? How about the chance to ve the first to win 4 PL titles in a row, and retain the CL, plus the other cups we are in for.

But I do get the other side of it too. If it comes to it, the club rightly shouldn't stand in his way, and thank him wish him all the best.
