Not sure Aluko is as far wide of the mark as it seems. Had a theory for a while that City want Arsenal as our buffer to Utd & Liverpool. Yes they provided the stamped paper for the letter but they'll never be as bad as those other two and now with Arteta, Zynchenko, Jesus all there, wouldn't be surprised if we sent them Cancelo either. Rice going there would solidify them as second to us.

Tbf, I’m 45 and was taught it was “Math” when I was at school. So much so, our timetable said “math” on it lol. It’s funny though, people perceive speech in different ways, they assume a posh person would say “Parton” but the term a genuine posh person would use is “what” believe it or not. I digress.I can forgive the goal-a-game comment because it's possibly just a slip of the tongue. Easily done.
The real problem (aside from the blatant sexism) is missing the 's' off maths. Are we all just turning American now?
The real issue though is she was daft enough to confess to dodgy dealings live on air.

I do t think it’s about the amount, more the structure. Rumour or however you wish to call it? Was that Arsenal had offered £80m plus £10m in add-ones. Issue was they only wanted to pay £15m upfront then the rest over 5 years (you’d assume the term of his deal?). City had offered the same but £37.5m now, £37.5m next season then £10m in realistic bonuses they could see next season also.I wonder what Arsenals new bid is gonna be. Is it gonna go past the 100m mark... They're way of paying the fee has been shown to be weak.
£90m is close enough to the £100m they want, we may now see City offer £20m in bonuses over a longer term which will sweeten the deal but I do t see either club offering more than the £80m actual fee.

To continue your digression - I was taught to say "Pardon", while "What" was considered very common. Only very much later did I find that the upper classes see it the other way round. Alan Bennett said exactly the same thing about his working class upbringing. Now I'm much older than 45 and it was maths not math, and, as far as I know, still is maths in this country. Wanting and getting are very far apart… The mistake Sullivan made was doing an interview after their European cup venture and telling the world that although they had no interested parties that Rice was going and had played his last game. Nobody therefore needs to up their bids, we all know he’s being sold regardless so as long as we just match one another and don’t give him the bidding war he’s praying for, then Rice leaves for under the £100m mark.100m seems to be West Hams want...
