First time for everything I suppose.
I don't think the likes of Szoboszlai or Veiga are a Gundo replacement stylistically, they seem much closer to a KDB or Foden type of player. I'll probably get pelters but I think Mount actually fits that profile better and even adds elements of Bernie too. Obviously not close to eithers level yet but then again thats probably our biggest issue, who is? I think Pep could work his magic with him and the fee almost looks reasonable compared with the Rice fee now.
Veiga and szoboszlai would be £100m combined on release clauses?

If past summers are to go by there won't be a Plan C and we'll go with what we have and try and get a midfielder next summer. Rodri will play every game and Stones will be in midfield again.

On the basis of who can afford him?Why is everyone suddenly certain that Bernardo is staying? It doesn’t seem to be reported anywhere but on here there’s an overwhelming certainty that he’s staying

One huge concern is that this summer we have 2 seasons left of Pep, so if we kick the can down the road and try to refresh our midfield next summer some players may be reluctant to join knowing that Pep is gone a season later. It apparently came up as an issue for Haaland and Rice.
Maybe we don’t need another one and the plan was to always get Kovacic، keep one of Bernardo of Gundogan, then get Gvardiol and see from there as to who else leaves so any other addition could be madeRice WAS the alternative.
Unlikely we'll go for any other midfielder this summer.

If a young average English midfielder is our alternative, there's still plenty of those to be found, stay more positive.Sadly i think this is true... Rice was plan B and that failed too.

Frenkie De Jong is just the obvious signing staring at us in the face. A much better fit than Rice too in my opinion.
We have multiple players that Barca would take and we would happily sell (Bernardo, Cancelo, Laporte).
It baffles me we haven't been linked to be honest - we were allegedly very close before, we've since won the treble and Pep is a dream manager for midfielders. Barca have no money and a big sale would help them. Throw them a player and a bit of cash and get it done.
Maybe we've had a flat out no from him in private, but if there's any way we could do a deal for FDJ, it's just such an obvious solution if the club feel like we need another midfielder.
