Celtic signed Tilio from Melbourne City. Great prospect but still young and physically developing. Seems strange that it was Rodgers who had Daniel Arzani, another talented lad, at Celtic and now he has Tilio. Just hope they are patient and don’t rush him.

He is 21, not 17, if he is as good as he looks then he needs to step up or he simply isn’t as good as perhaps he thinks.

I think he looks really good, great dribbler, good passing, eye for a goal, gets stuck in. With Jota and probably Abada leaving he has a chance to make an impact band claim a jersey. I think he can but it won’t be because of his age. He needs to have the heart and if you don’t have that at 21 you never will.

If you’ve watched any football from Australia on a consistent basis, you’ll know that there is a huge leap from the A League to the SPFL in terms of speed and in particular physicality. There’s a few of us on here who watch the other CFG teams on a consistent basis so have seen him play quite often. Tilio has been a bit of a late developer and one could reasonably argue that last year was really his breakout season. He has all of the positive attributes that you mention, but I would also draw your attention to the fact that he only played the full 90 minutes in 6 of City’s 24 regular season games. A player can have all the heart in the world, but they need a pair of lungs to get around the park. As I mentioned, he is a great prospect and a player who will excite your crowd, but I think you might not see the very best of him until he fully develops, which was why I urged patience.

Bottom line at us is you don’t get patience. You either do the business or you are on the bench. I hear what you are saying, but he needs to deliver. I think he looks as if he can, he will be entering a supportive dressing room, Rogers will build his confidence and the support will be right behind him. From there it’s up to the lad. I am confident he will succeed. Time will tell.

Indeed. The fact that you have rewarded him with a five-year contract suggests, to me, that Celtic recognise that he is a player to develop, especially as both parties are guarding the price paid. I would imagine he will have a mixed first season, with starts and substitute appearances, and that you will then progressively see him improve In seasons 2 and 3. It simply takes time for the body to develop. For me, it has the feel of a Postecoglou signing.

We give five year contracts for the simple reason we know if a player does well they will move to a bigger league and we can get a higher fee. And the signing is a result of Ange getting gems from other leagues that we can afford, so this is a model we will continue with. If Rogers didn’t want the lad he wouldn’t be here. The same goes for young Oden and Yang from Korea. He’s here because Rogers wanted him. I’m glad he did.

They are two-way things, however. Longer contracts also add a little insurance to the moving player, particularly when they’re coming from entirely different cultures and where both parties know they might need time to develop. It’s an interesting model and the focus in youth and development gives Rodgers a fresh challenge in his career, one he probably needed.

You were having a dig at CCV so save your shit and fucking own your crap. Every **** who reads that knows you were having a pop. Even you.
I was having a dig by saying he was one of your best player if not your best?

Ffs I’ll have to work on my insults lol

You are a mentalist. My biggest mistake was thinking you might actually be different from the average Celtic fan but nope. Blinded by hatred and believe everything you’re told

Your biggest mistake is thinking you know anything about me. It’s fucking rich a rangers fan say g we are full of hate. Wind your fuckinh by heck in with the insults and stick to delusion. You have that mastered. You know fuck all about me.

I admit I was a little slow in realising you’re a fucking idiot but it’s ok. I’ve got it now

There you go again with the ‘delusion’ nonsense. Only the other day another poster called you an arrogant tit or something along those lines. He obviously knows you a lot better than I do

Your managers left.

You have a manager your own fans despise

Signed a couple of nothing kids from poor leagues.

Lost / losing at least two of your better players

You won the league by 7 points from an injury ravaged Rangers team with another couple of players uninterested.

Rangers have signed quality and have quality players returning from long term injury. Yet you mock Rangers supporters for being optimistic while prattling on about having domestic dominance and putting up a decent Euro campaign lol

Time will tell……

Oh fuck off you boring ****. Time will tell.

Well, that escalated quickly. You can't have a ding dong like that and not wager a bet of Irn Bru who will win the league
That’s not a ding dong.

Nothing more than friendly debate between opposing sides of the Old Firm

Looks like Jota could be moving to Saudi for anything up to €30 million. The rumour has been going around for days and looks to be a goer. Unbelievable bit of business from Lawwell yet again. Maybe not the most popular among Celtic supporters but the player trading model he has set up at Celtic has been exceptional.

Rumours are Harare and Kyogo may follow him out the door but I’m not sure Rodgers would be keen on losing both in this window.

One things for sure is Celtic will have money to seriously strengthen the squad. They have a very decent record in the transfer market. I’m only hoping that run comes to an end

End of last week I was beginning to see a light at the end of a long dark tunnel. With the news of the money Celtic will have to spend Im now not so sure

Now up to Rodgers to prove he’s as astute in the transfer market as his predecessor

Think Celtic included a sell on clause in the Frimpong sale as well. If Jota goes and Frimpong moves that’s a huge financial advantage to hold. Celtic seem to be clever in the transfer market so can only see them investing well. Not got any allegiances to any of the teams but would like to have seen a more competitive league and it attracting more money to strengthen across the board as I enjoy watching the odd game.

They also have £20-£30 million in the bank.

It has been reported they do owe £30ish million in transfer fees by the end of 2023 but other reports claim they are also owed money in for transfers

Just checked google and they paid roughly £6 million for Kyogo and Harare. To put that in perspective Rangers paid £7 million for Kent!! While Rangers allowed Kent to run down his contract and leave for free Celtic simply won’t do that. They’ll sell either one of them and figures quoted are £18-£20 million for one of them!! That is relatively huge money in the Scottish game.

Is it time DD allowed Lawwell to push the boat out and go for players they may take them
Up a level in Europe? It is the only frustration for their support that they have dominated domestically but failed miserably in Europe.

We ll see in the next couple of weeks what way they are going to go. Personally I’m hoping DD wants to build that bank balance up and keep the purse strings tight

Interesting few weeks coming up for us. Loads of rumours etc as per, I try to ignore them as 99% of them are just made up shit the papers use to fill their pages.

This lad is being mentioned for £16m and he looks great, so, that reduces our chances of him coming to us, as other clubs in better leagues will also be monitoring him.

What we know we need.

A goalie

A CB to partner CV

A LB as Taylor has no competition. Young Bernie is not up to speed and may never get to a level we require.

A domineering CM.

A replacement for Jota and Abada. Depending on how Tilio and Yang look.

Another striker

Money to buy them.

Jota £25m+

Frimpong £7-10m on reported fee

Abada £7-10m

Turnbull £6-8m

CL even if we make a total **** of it. £25m

Other player sales £10-12m

Circa £80m incoming, allegedly had £30m even without selling anybody. If Hatate and Kyogo go another circa £40m although I hope we keep them both.

We also have sell ons 30%

Tierney

Armstrong

Christie

Ajer.

Jota

Abada

Will also probably sell these for around the prices I took a stab at.

Turnbull. £6-8m

Welsh £2-3m

McCarthy £0

Bain £500k

Kyobashi. £1.5-2m or keep him to settle more.,

Ajeti £1m if we drug the cunts.

Maybe £10-12m for all of them.

On top of that another few will be allowed to leave getting rid of the deadwood.

So all in, we have a stash and I’m confident we won’t need to spend all that if we are clever in the markets Ange opened our eyes to. Exciting times and I just hope they start bringing in the new blood. We buy quality then the cycle repeats with us selling them on in two seasons for profit and sell ons. Bring it on.

Tierney sell on clause is 15%. Another great bit of business as Lawwell played hardball and got the full £25 million upfront.

£6-£8 million for Turnbull is extremely optimistic as is £2-£3 million for Welsh. McArthy is going nowhere unless he’s paid off. Probably the strangest signing in recent times by Celtic. Giving him four year deal was poor.

£7-10 million for Abada? Lawwell is great in the market but that’s asking a lot

Doig is seemingly joining Napoli this summer. Both Old Firms missed a trick there. For me he’s younger and better than Taylor / Barisic Think the lad will have a great career

As far as getting rid of the deadwood goes. It’s difficult for both our clubs as No team in Scotland pays anywhere near what we do and teams down south don’t rate many of our ‘deadwood’

Lawwell has shocked me in the past with the fees he’s brought in so your figures might be there or thereabouts but we ll see

I think we should demand at least £8m for Turnbull. Welsh probably about £2m but I definitely think we will get £8-10m for Abada. Personally I wouldn’t pay that for him, but if we can get £8m for him I’d be doing handstands. Lawell isn’t supposed to be involved and Rogers and him don’t get on. He wanted the “confusion” sorted. Lawell was the confusion. I don’t think he will have a say, I fucking hope not. McCarthy I said would be no fee and hopefully he just fucks off somewhere he can get a game. I won’t be right on the money, but it will be in that ballpark. I want Tierney to stay at Arsenal, play great and go for a right few million. He has the ability and selling him for £45m to Newcastle wouid be idiotic, but, it’s Arsenal, so anything is possible. I will check the sell on. I thought it was 30% and no way should we have accepted that. Lawell was still there so I’m hopeful he got more than 15%.
