Vowed after the Arsenal debacle in the Community Shield in Aug 2014 that I wouldnt bother with this game again; the long haul down to Wembley to watch us field a half-arsed team in a game we clearly use as a warm-up is an easy one to avoid tbh.

Thanks to the idiots in Govt my mortgage has gone up significantly, my energy bills have doubled and with 2 kids now in University and the costs of Istanbul factored in, something has to give. In an ideal world Id love to see the Super Cup game but until things improve in this country, this just isnt financially feasible anymore and family has to take priority.

Im not specifically boycotting this game but after seeing us win the lot last season in the flesh - the European Cup was the holy grail - combined with spiraling costs of simple outgoings, means the amount of away games I attend will dwindle to all but zero, bar Cup Finals and any European trips are a thing of the past. My wife and I are lucky enough to earn decent wages but its becoming all but impossible to make ends meet on a monthly basis and so its time to start missing games Im afraid. Im sure Im not the only footy fan in this position. Fair play to those that can afford it, but for some of us its time to reluctantly start saying no more.

However, I fully understand the logic of the boycott but what I can't understand is people preaching to those who are going yet are attending the Super Cup in Athens. Surely there is even more reasons to boycott that game than this one after the debacle of Istanbul?

Down to season card holders with 7500 points 10 minutes ago. Just done a count and about 2000 have shifted since they first went on sale yesterday. Take up is clearly very low so far and the call for a boycott is definitely a factor, especially as I'm hearing that some OSC branches have applied for zero tickets.

Be interesting to see how they shift when these “120,000” members that are all desperate for season tickets according to the club are given a go.

It won’t be because club know it’s nothing against the manager the players etc this is one where fans are taking it on because no one else will do it for us. Club are aware and no doubt when asked in Pep’s presser what he thinks of the boycott he will come down on the fans’ side

All them game you have mentioned haven't been available to probably around 80-90% of city fans ....now tickets are available these people who wernt able to go are being mocked.
I predict we will probably sell about three quarters of the tickets (as per usual for this game) , which is a shame as it should be selling out, to see , possibilly the best city team we will ever see .
If you think a so called boycott is going to change things you need to look closer to home. Sat 8pm kos ,ticket prices going up again. . It's a money game mate and a few 1000 city fans not rocking up at wembley won't affect anything.
All it does is make our fanbase look shite again.
Maybe people can't afford it , I get that , but telling people not go to a game to support their team when it is possible to get back and there are lower priced tickets is just wrong.

You have to start making a stand somewhere. If nobody bats an eyelid all of a sudden it’s 7 next year. As those choosing to boycott/not go don’t have an issue with those still going there should be no issue the other way around either.

There has been, and continues to be, support from other fan groups. Touching on the 8 o’clock for Newcastle it is then this time but it will be us at Brighton with a dodgy ko before you know it. We are not solely protesting this, where do you think stuff like the 30 quid away cap coke from previously.

I would disagree that it has no impact. I have seen lots of talk about fans, kick off times and the likes recently. City themselves letting anyone buy 4 shows there has been an impact.

We will get called poor fans the usual lot if the end isn’t full- so what. It is from the usual lot of other sets of so called fans that haven’t been to a football game in their life. Who honestly gives a crap what they think

There was a drop in away attendances from 2008-2013 by 10% so the PL gave each club £200k they needed to spend on helping fans at away games from 2013-14, which City used to halve away ticket prices for 3 games a season but paid the away club full price.

The £200k help was replaced by the £30 cap in 2016-17 at the suggestion of the majority of PL clubs. I know several different groups all now take credit , but it started with a decline in away sales due to the "Credit Crunch" or recession.

Agree completely on this. Whatever your view, it seems the Arsenal end will be full and our’s won’t. Checked on Arse website and it has sold out to Red Members. Get all the factors and they are local but it’s still going to look embarrassing potentially and won’t be picked up as a ‘protest’.

Rivals fans would always find something anyway to go at us with empty seats talk still happens no matter what even though we have one of the highest % of capacity in the league
