Gvardiol in is a full squad, without outgoings.

A bit disconcerting that, cos it either means we’re going to be bent over a table and forced to take it up the arse for anything remotely resembling a decent fee for Laporte or Cancelo, or we’re gonna go with McAtee and Palmer as replacements for Gunders and Mahrez, and Phillips continuing to deputise for Rodri. Neither augurs well.
If that pre-season has taught us one thing, it’s that we’re well short of attacking options. A great starting XI, but somewhat lightweight thereafter. We’re looking at a 55 game season again, and Rodders, Kev, Bernie, Foden and the Meat Shield can’t play every week. As an absolute minimum we could do with a winger with a real change of gear

A winger, another AM and Gvardiol imo mate.

Gotcha...like I said I'm fine either way even after today, although it's hard to come away with an objective assessment while playing with that many players who aren't anywhere near ready to play at this level...
Nothing to do with his pre, season performances

With Barca wanting Cancelo and Dembele available for €50m could we not just swap them players? Pep gets rid of Cancelo and we get a winger?
You do know Dembele is known as a bit of a "party boy", in more of a Mendy way than a Grealish one.

Raphinha would be the safer choice.

Just 2 of the 3 I reckon Gvardiol and either of the others not sure which plus Kovacic.
Laporte and Cancelo join Gundoga Mahrez out Which by my reckoning leaves us as strong as last year on numbers and quality. I don’t think any team has improved enough to close the gap.
Signings apart I think we get better seasons from Grealish, Haaland, Alvarez and Foden, I also think Gvardiol gives us added options that Laporte didn’t. Stones gets the CB / Mid hybrid even more. Confident for another good season.

Mcatee may get to stay mate and get cup matches and the last 10 minutes of won premier league games but I still think as it stands we are going to be far too reliant on KDB? I think we then need a versatile across the front 3 type worldie who can assist as well?

Optimism to disguise the underlying issue. Without KDB creativity is at a bare minimum

I’m usually all for transfer windows, I enjoy the rumours but this Summer has been a bit tedious so far.

Would much rather just fast forward a few weeks and concentrate on football rather than Fabrizio Romano and his daily changes of mind.

Ideally want Cancelo gone because he’s an absolute liability and moody bastard. I was up for keeping Phillips too but he’s shown the square root of fuck all in pre-season which is a little concerning given we won’t move for another midfielder while he’s taking up room.

Every window the ITKs say we have a huge budget and should expect four or five new players and they're never right and this forum never learns.

To be fair mate, every summer we do sign four or five players and the budget is always there for the ones who do want to come.

Last season it was Phillips, Ortega, Erling, Alvarez and Perrone.

And certainly had Erling and Phillips on the money.

This season Kovacic and Gvardiol and Pep's comments over the weekend suggest plenty more comings and goings.
