That argument doesn't pass mustard for me. We can't take anything for granite going into this new season. The Prem is a doggy dog world and our season could easily end up a damp squib if we're not careful.
Hahahaha ‘pass mustard’ - Autocorrect is not always your friend

That is because they are having to spend fortunes just trying to compete with us let alone take our crown. There are some gems out there just need to find them. Maybe we should try recruit Brightons' head scout?
The notion that our rivals can’t close the gap us if we stand still is crazy.

One caveat to all that is that we were incredibly lucky with injuries.

We lost players to injuries 447 days, the lowest in the PL by far - some of the worst were Liverpool who lost players for 1574 days, and Chelsea 1876.

Can't rely on that happening again.

We have probably have the best medical club team in the world so that's one of reason of why we can minimalize the impact of the injury even if we have small squads.

Injury will always happen but because our world class medical staff and facilities we don't need to relly bigger squad which means more money to pay and wages for the player in question.

You have to look at Juventus horrible injury track record to makes us feel fortunate that we have consistently have better treatment for our injury player so it will not impact too much in our campaign season.

Arguably the case - but last year was still an outlier even for City.

My thoughts too, we always needs to be widening the gap between us and all the other teams in the league.
There’s a cliche that’s often said here that we can’t plan our squad based on the rivals’. That’s, obviously, bullshit. You always need to keep an eye on what everyone is doing as this is a competitive sport. You don’t win in a vacuum. A Formula 1 car is only something in comparison to the performance of others…

At the moment we’re not widening any gap. Instead, we are letting them get closer

Easy to say hard to do when you’re the best team in Europe, any improvements are minute and difficult.
Somewhat agree, but relying on the mostly untested youth and Kova to match Mahrez and Gundos goal contributions is a strange decision. Also I don't think Phillips is going to make it here and a proper back up to Rodri is needed.

That’s not gonna happen. We will sign someone in the month to go. Just have to be patient

Kovacic is the Rodri backup. Rico Lewis will also play DM. As a worst case scenario Phillips is more than fine.

No. they are signing players that they hope will get them closer. No guarantees all their purchases will work out for them. Rags and Chavs are not the best at improving through purchases

If Kevin or Phil get injured then Kova will have to play for them. I hope Rico will be able to do the job, as Phillips is not more than fine.

You don’t overtake someone who has dominance in one transfer window or one season. It’s a process. It happened with Liverpool too. Arsenal started it two seasons ago, grew a lot last season and are making the right signings again and will grow some more. United also improved under Ten Hag and they seem to be addressing their issues. Is the difference we saw in the FA Cup final really so large that they can’t improve? I’d argue that the comparison between the 6-3 to the 2-1 in the PL last season showed they grew during the season, ridiculous refereeing decisions aside. And I have an unpopular take about Chelsea. I don’t think they are a “mess”. They have a good manager now and yes, they are spending a lot, but the squad they are building is young, with players tied to long contracts that will in the long term possibly make them quite the force

Lewis and Phillips (if he stays, which I don’t know he will) won’t be trusted for big games. Which is an issue when we don’t have Gundogan, and why it is decadent to have Kovacic there instead

Don’t understand the Foden will replace Mahrez goals shout… So Phil is gonna double his goal output next season?. Need an winger/att midfielder in asap simple really.
