Which is fine and consistent.

Picking and choosing who is allowed back into the public eye is where the inconsistencies lie.

As much as I think they are wrong’uns I do think there are difficult questions which society hasn’t answered?

What do we expect Greenwood to do to earn & provide for his family? Goodwillie was signed by a very semi pro outfit here in Perth WA & they backed out after outrage.

Like many others I say wrongun, don’t sign them but it has to be answered.

Oh for sure. They need to be working outside the public eye ideally.

Rightly or wrongly, footballers are held up as role models, so it makes it difficult for redemption from such things.

It’s also because they haven’t been tried for their actions, whereas Lee Hughes, Ched Evans, Nile Ranger, Troy Deeney et al who have been either found guilty and done their time or had convictions quashed, have been welcomed back into football having done their time.

Greenwood could have come out and apologised publicly for his actions to his partner and club and people may have been able to bring him back if he continues showing contrition, donated to DV charities and raised awareness for others etc.

As always, united have bottled it, thought they could just bring him back with no remorse and everything would be normal.

They’re learning they can’t at the moment. Will they heed the lesson?

He forfeits his right to choose a living when he treats people like shit.. It’s not for us to answer what he does next, it’s on him …!
A bit of humility wouldn’t hurt his cause in the first instance ..

So Crafton at The Athletic seemed to have the inside track on this, but on Red Caf it is being speculated that the 'leaks' were deliberate... to test public opinion.... and help them make a final decision.

Like I said a few days ago, they will have special PR people on this being paid a fortune and all dirty tricks will be employed.

Strangely, when Red Caf tried to discuss the press release that came out a few hours after the women's WC semi-final win, the thread was shut-down within ten minutes. However, they are still actively debating the issue (on a thread about Richard Arnold) and that is being permitted.

Operation cunts u turn in full swing. It was inevitable it would happen before kick off after the backlash was gaining momentum. Couldn't risk a big pr disaster at the game today. Full announcement before 5.30. SCUM

"Manchester United FC. After a long consultation with the employee, his family, fans and various domestic violence charities have decided to reintegrate Mason Greenwood into the first team squad. The team coach is happy to welcome him back into our progressive team.

Manchester United FC abhor all forms of abuse, be it mental of physical and will donate £250,000 pounds to Mason Greenwood Domestic Abuse foundation. A new charity that supports women who have suffered in abusive relationships...."
Is this a pisstake. If not is Sir Tom's Daughter doing the books

Got to disagree with you here. For whatever you think about what happened, by law someone is innocent until proven guilty in a court. We can argue about his guilt, but the fact remains within our system as it currently stands, those that prosecute crime don't believe they can prove his guilt. For what its worth, my view is that the system we have that effectively punishes his girlfriend if she proceeds with a complaint is wrong beyond words.

That being said as an employer, United have a duty of care to their contracted employee however distasteful that might be. Now if it was a situation like Lee Hughes I would agree with you.
Every fucker thinks we are guilty .

So Antony the next one then?

Interesting if they fuck greenwood off then it's a precedent set, although in the case of Antony, it'd probably be a blessing for them!

I’ve just finished Ged Duffy‘s book of Stockholm Monsters fame and he covers the United treble season extensively. Hilariously he finishes the chapter with this nugget.

”Both City and Liverpool have had seasons where they’ve won 3 trophies, but no other club has won the 3 biggest trophies in one season. This has never been done before and I guess it will never be done again”

Priceless.
That aged well.
