If you look at that 2012 City team Kompany, Silva and Aguero walk into last season's Arsenal side. Yaya Toure is marginal, the rest of that City team get nowhere near last year's Arsenal 1st XI.

Whereas if you compare Arsenal and City last season, Saka walks into the City team, there are several players that you could argue are on par on either side (particularly at the back, maybe Saliba is a smidge above what City had at CB last season but still marginal) but apart from the aforementioned Saka I don't think another Arsenal player is a shoo in for the City team of last season and some of the City side (eg Haaland, Edersen, Bernardo Silva, Rhodri, KDB) are absolutely clear above their Arsenal counterparts (Silva I put in even though he plays in Saka's position and I said Saka walks into a combined Arsenal/City team I just think Silva is so good (controversial opinion but I actually think he may be your best player) that a spot has to be found for him somewhere.

Actually if you offered me 1 current City player we could take to Arsenal it wouldn't be the 'obvious' choice Haaland - I'd take Silva ahead of him.

You've had a good attempt at the title this year but unfortunately you've lost it after match day 3. Maybe next year you can try a bit harder and last a bit longer

Correct, we (Arsenal) aren't as good as the Liverpool side that pushed City hard in the centurion season. But I do think Arsenal's side last year were better than a few of the United and Chelsea sides that won the PL, definitely better than Leicester and also better than the 1st 2 City sides that won the league.

Just shows how far the standard has increased since then. Really the 2 sides that stand above all others are the City Centurion side and the Arsenal invincibles. Would have been great to see those 2 come up against each other.
Better than the first two City sides to win the PL?

Akanji is better then Saliba. Laporte is as well…..fam.

Agreed, the same YaYa that is the greatest African player to play in the Premier League. At his peak he was simply unplayable and 2013/14 season I’d say he was the best player on the planet. He is ridiculously underrated even by City fans due to the off-field issues but we should always remember he was simply the best.
Yaya is a God. The end. Plus he did it first…..turned up in all the big games.

you lost that argument by saying yaya toure is marginal, yaya is streets ahead of any midfielder that arsenal has currently, pablo zabelata isnt ahead of ben white? dont make me laugh, gareth barry and ndj both walk into your midfield and dzeko is a miles better striker than anything you currently have so try again
Haha. Yaya marginal!

hes not a wum , hes just your common or garden arsenal moron who overstates his own players importance while saying everybody else is crap, but then is entirely confused when arsenal dont win, there is not a current arsenal player that walks into the city team not a single one.

I mean to even mention saliba and dias in the same sentence is quite frankly an insult.
Odegaard would definite be in our starting 11 and Saka would be close to first choice, Pep would make both those players elite

Yaya marginal? Nasri definitely gets in last season Arsenal side and Joe Hart and Zabaleta. You are talking out of your backside.

They didn't bottle it in so far as City won 11 games on the bounce. City won that title just as much as Arsenal bottled it as if youd not gone on that run what Arsenal did was irrelevant.

That City team last season was far superior to the United side that City clawed back 8 points on. You can't compare.

Last season and the 2011/12 City team beat their title rivals home and away, that's another reason why your lot last season aren't as good as the 2011/12 City team

Saka walks in over Bernado or Mahrez, really. Also two of your best players were players City didn't need.

Also forgot Kompany, Tevez , Barry, Milner and Dzeko. That City team is probably the best set of individuals that City have ever assembled.

Yaya Toure marginal? Are you taking the piss? Your midfield contained Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey and you're not sure whether one of the greatest Premier league midfielders of all time gets in ahead of them?

Not to mention Tevez, Dzeko, Nasri and Zabaleta.

Sorry, but the 2011/2012 City side would wipe the floor with last seasons Arsenal. Even the title winning sides of Chelsea I’m struggling to see being inferior to Arsenal. Id take prime Hazard over Saka / Martineli any day.
His quote about Saliba being better than our central defenders last season is mad. Offer Arteta Stones and Dias he would rip our arm off. He did with Jesus and Zinchenko.

hes that desperate to be pep we could offer him the tea lady and the parking attendants and hed put em on the bench

Back on topic - we are going to win it. The signings have been top class and Kev getting a rest first half of the season will end up a bonus. We can get him superfit in the meantime. Alvarez will get more goals and Foden more minutes but the key is the defence. We look so solid.
Totally agree. City rarely get outplayed anymore, perhaps once or twice a season and adding Gvardiol and Kovacic just makes us look that much stronger.

There’s a reason he’s been sniffing round Laporte & Cancelo, and signed Gabby & Zinny, the players he already has, don’t have the right mentality, part of having the right mentality is ingrained in a player from a young age (if not birth) and you can’t buy that, it’s why our due diligence on players focuses heavily in this area, part of it can be learnt through experience, the scars of last season will be too much for some, the big question is, what if they don’t win it this season ?
