Athletics Thread

Thought Coe spoke well there about the future of the sport. He’s absolutely correct when he says the top athletes don’t compete often enough and the ‘peak’ of the season is too brief to be a financially sustainable model. The athletes need to get on board with that, when you compare how often they compete compared to men and women in other sports.

Apparently some of the tickets for these evening sessions cost £20 - in other words, sensible pricing to fill the stadium to a decent level.
Further to this, similar thoughts in this article by Cathal Dennehy, which starts off about Bol, but opens up to compare athletics to tennis. Think I agree with when is being said here.

Silver for Keely.

Gutted for her, finally beats Mu and Moraa takes the gold.
I thought Keely’s running earlier in the season was not as smooth as previously. Maybe a bit laboured here? I still love her, though.

A busy day today so a quick heads up for anyone who enjoyed the champs last week, the biggest one day meeting of the year is tonight in Zurich.
The Weltklasse, or the one day Olympics as it used to be known, is on 7-9pm tonight, BBC2 and Eurosport.

Brilliant from Laura Muir there, that’s more like it.

Actually think Josh Kerr was unlucky in his race and didn’t even realise the American was coming through until it was too late.

Thanks for the info, just put it on in time to see the 200m. Good race, looks like very different conditions compared to Budapest last week
