Americans are cheesy no doubt, but far more supportive. They also share their success stories. In the UK if you are onto a good thing the very idea of sharing it is anathema but in the US you tell as many people as possible how to achieve the same success. Only thing I really miss apart from family back home is the ability to go to the games.

Surely the significant amount with the Doyle deal is the 50% sell-on? It looks like West Ham need cash, and are willing to take than unusually high % to keep the fee low and delayed.

You're right - it is significant. But there's no guarantee Wolves will trade him any time soon, and if they do it would need to be for 36m to make up the difference vs a more normal 15m upfront + 20% of sell-on. And that's non-inflation adjusted.

It's all about hindsight... We were lucky not to get Maguire and to a lesser extent Sanchez.
Van Persie was the one that got away. We'd have walked the PL 2012/13 if we'd signed him (or if the rags hadn't)

Is there a leaving card? You always say you’ll stay in touch, but you never do. He’ll have new friends. I have to remind myself that some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, that place you live in is that much more drab and empty now that they’re gone. I guess I just miss my friend.

Nunes has been playing in a terrible Wolves side - what is he supposed to do? Ignore the manager and just try to take everyone on? Pass glory balls to players who aren't good enough to read the pass?

By Christmas we'll have them all saying what a bargain we had etc. The club have barely made a mistake in the transfers we've done so I suspect the ones who've bought the player know him, what he's capable of and will be IMMENSE once he plays for us.

FFS I honestly wonder at times if Pele, Maradona and Cryuff were available we'd still get people saying that they aren't as good as Palmer, Bobb and some other 12 year old we've got! :D
