Absolute crackling proposal.

Designed by EPR Architects, Colloco would comprise 200,000 sq ft of office space on the corner of New Quay Street and Gartside Street. The 16-storey office block has been designed to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating, 5.5-star NABERS score, and to be net zero carbon.

Why do people nearly always add shit and annoying music to drone videos? Turn the sound down. Watch in HD, white cog.

Where's that circular tower in the opening shots? To go against my stated opinion on most of the new skyscrapers going up, that one nearly looks presentable.

Nearly.

Dominus is on the hunt for a forward funding partner for its impressive £200 million Medlock Tower development in central Manchester. This super-prime PBSA project, developed in collaboration with Whitbread, has already secured planning permission and is set to redefine student living with 1,014 beds across a striking 37-storey tower, conveniently located opposite First Street.

We've partnered with Savills and Gerald Eve to identify the perfect partner for this exciting venture. Pending funding, construction is scheduled to kick off in early 2024, ensuring delivery in time for the 2027/28 academic year. Notably, this development will replace an existing Premier Inn hotel on Medlock Street.

This development will not only address the pressing demand for quality student accommodation but also prioritize environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations, meeting the standards required by global capital.

A fantastic opportunity for forward-thinking investors and an exciting addition to Manchester's skyline! Stay tuned for updates as this transformative project takes shape.

Ooh - not heard of this scheme. Obvs that skyline will different again (Viadux and the new Whitworth street tower are missing from there).
A skyline just needs one special looking tower, something that makes it distinguishable to the rest in height and design. We can have as many boxes as we want then, boxes are all just there to support the centre piece and add mass to the overall skyline.
Absolutely.
I think we may be a fair while off that but would one good to have something really special tower wise.
Irrespective of that, the skyline is utterly blooming.
A lot of people earn a hell of a lot of money. I met a girl once who spent £800 a week on flowers for her house. Fresh batches every Friday whether they needed replenishing or not.

I don’t have £800 a month to myself.
I thought my monthly croissant bill was high.....

Amazing updates JRB.
Couple of questions:
Are there still going to be 4 tower on the Trinity Island plots?

And on Great Jackson/New Jackson, are they building those 4 towers at the same time (seems like they're split into two towers on SSC?)? Aware that Lighthouse was the 5th of those too.

I'm really looking forward to all the developments in the First Street area being completed.
I often cut through there and along Hulme Street whilst walking from Castlefield to the Aquatics Centre and back, and it's all a bit of a mess at the moment.
I'm sure it will all look brilliant and that area of town feel less desolate on completion.

Great Jackson. At the end of Deansgate, next to the Mancunian Way roundabout. Or is it the Chester Road roundabout?

Thanks.

Yes, split by the inner ring road. 2 towers on each car parks/plots.

The first phase has been renamed River Gardens. Some good up to date construction pictures on SSC-MCR.

The 4 towers surrounding the Lighthouse? I don't know. Renaker are starting on the contour plot now.

I'm guessing Renaker will move on to the Lighthouse + 4 towers plot when Contour is close to completion. I could be wrong. You never know with Renaker. They could start on the Lighthouse + 4 towers plot whilst Contour is under construction. Renaker don't mess about.

Worsley will know. :-)

Still plenty of land plots to develop in and around Piccadilly Train Station. The new uncertainty with HS2 coming to Manchester or not won't help. Picture screeb grabbed from the drone video.

PS. I hope it doesn't turn out to be another Arndale Bus Station disaster.(if you remember it?) I appreciate there's a huge open void in the Stockport Interchange Bus Station, unlike the enclosed Arndale Bus Station.

The joint venture is eyeing a spring 2025 opening for 125,000 sq ft of specialist labs and offices, part of a wider cluster at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust’s Oxford Road campus.

GMI Construction Group has now started work on the workspace for developer Bruntwood SciTech.

Proposals for a taller, denser development on Manchester’s Great Ducie Street have been tabled to bring the project in line with proposed changes to fire safety standards while keeping it viable.

The initial version of the scheme featured 461 apartments across two blocks, one reaching 27 storeys and the other topping out at 11 storeys.
The 2023 iteration proposes 505 apartments across buildings reaching 29 and 12 storeys on part of the former Boddingtons Brewery site.

Proposals for a 28-acre complex boasting 25 pools and more than 35 waterslides have been approved for a second time. Attention now turns to getting on site before the end of the year and bringing the ambitious plans to fruition.

Therme UK’s £250m Trafford City scheme is one of the region’s most eagerly anticipated projects and has been in the pipeline for several years.

Trafford Council first approved plans for the resort back in March 2020. At that time, the developer anticipated the complex would open to the public in 2023.

A strategy is now in place that could see four acres currently occupied by Stocktons furniture showroom and the Diecast leisure destination redeveloped into around 550,000 sq ft of offices and 1,100 homes.

Great 3rd picture, post 2,536, by Ferge.

With another 10 towers to go up in that same picture shot in the future.
