Conspiracy theories......

And the credible sources of information are..........................
That's because you cant name any, fair enough. Which is exactly my point.
OK I'll bite..
The credible sources are experts, through their experience, knowledge and qualifications.

If you were designing a huge bridge, would you trust an experienced, qualified engineer with extensive knowledge about bridges, or an unqualified bloke who thinks he knows how to do it ?

Oh, the unqualified bloke every time. The crash is just such fun.
It is reasonable to view the media sceptically but to then conclude every time that they are misleading you is equally silly.
I see Russell Brand is now blaming his troubles on the deep state and a media conspiracy. He will, apparently, post a full explanation on some looney tunes website later.
Russell you have just convinced me of your guilt. The deep state hasn’t even heard of you, you Trumpian prick.
P.S. Just wondering what the deep state might be.

I guess the opposite of believing conspiracy theories is believing the mainstream media. I'll keep an open mind thanks.
You guessed incorrectly. That’s like saying the opposite of supporting Manchester City is supporting Sky Sports. Those two things aren’t the opposite of each other… they aren’t even in the same genre of entities, as one is a football club and the other is a media corporation.

Much like a conspiracy theory is an explanation of something using unproven, uncorroborated or false evidence and the mainstream media is a group of broadcasting and publishing outlets for entertainment, news and sport. They are different genres of entities.

The opposite of believing in conspiracy theories is not believing in conspiracy theories.

I’d trust the YouTube bridge building expert Bill ; )

Ok I'd say the opposite of believing conspiracy theories is not believing in them.

Like when the worlds experts come on TV and give explanations about covid, you either believe them or not. They are not the media. They are highly qualified extremally clever experts.
True but with a Caveat, I believe 8 million people or so or on the National Health waiting list, that must touch the majority of the population, if it is your sibling, parent or grandparent. So is mainstream media full of experts both political and medical on how we can improve this. Or is it Prince Harry, Kim Kardashian and what Russell Brand did ten years ago?

Well really not into politics as feel all governments are self interested and make little difference. But I will tell you a story which you can believe or otherwise. A few years back was on a skiing vacation staying in a chalet where we all met up for dinner. Sitting opposite a few people who I noted would not eat meat. So asked why they made that decision. Well these guys were doing research into prions at Oxford University. They mentioned that there was a problem with beef in the UK that it was well known, accepted, and the government was doing nothing about it. 2 years later the BSE crisis hits. Am also sure there were people who would have questioned Blair and his WMD and been shot down at the time. Sometimes, just sometimes, the minority get it right. Not many admittedly.

Well at least that's an answer thank you. But the problem is they are the highly qualified experts put on TV....by the media. Like pinkfinal said. I just find myself sceptical of everything these days because everyone seems to have an agenda. I would just like news reports to be facts, so I can make my own mind up from there

So the media putting experts on the news to present the latest knowledge of a subject isn’t the news presenting facts? In terms of Covid what would you have liked them to report that wasn’t?

Do you think the people feeding your scepticism/ paranoia also have an agenda?

I’m not saying the media is good at the moment. Far from it. There needs to me a significant overhaul where news actually holds people to account and calls out lies and is there to inform rather than entertain.

The Oxford University bit would/could suggest they had some credibility.

It has better expert reviews than the university of life.

Sadly, the university of live has better peer reviews than any other university. Everyone who attends it thinks it’s the best way to learn.

It certainly isn't the best place to learn grammar or spelling in my experience of these people.
