The powers that be are making a mockery of this game, end of bloody September and still trying to play in this country is laughable, money makers now is all they are

In fairness it was only a 20 minute shower. The groundstaff made a massive cock up with the covers and the square got wet.

Yea, but joking apart that match aside, there are 8 championship games in progress, but how many will finish with the weather what is forecast across the country for rest of the week.
Looking at the radar, more might than you think. The storm tomorrow is mostly hitting north of Manchester and the only other significant rain looks to be overnight on Thursday.

Its usually better weather in September than when they start the season in April. I don't like how they pause the County Championship in the height of Summer though. We don't get enough matches on good batting surfaces throughout the season and it shows when players progress to international level.

I'll watch with interest then, out of the 8 I'm claiming 4 won't get much play in over next 3 days
It will depend on how saturated the fields are and how arsed the sides are to get a result.

They might already be on the piste, or whatever the cricketing equivalent of being on the beach is!

September has had a lot better weather than July this year.

The point I'm making is it's taking the piss playing games over here in Autumn, they cream the hit and hope games in the summer as that's the money spinner, championship cricket will be finished here in a few year, and so will a lot of players as well when it happens.

There has been some unusual weather at the beginning of this month, I agree, but it's now the 26th and Autumn man

The differences in warm ups to this World Cup seem huge.

England fannying around trying to beat Ireland and the weather with a B team versus Australia playing India in actual World Cup conditions.

Very odd.

7 out of 9 CC matches playing as normal so far today, meesh.

Ireland series was basically just a chance for the back-up players to stick their head above the parapet to be on the reserve list. We played a good competitive series with New Zealand as preparation.

Keep our discipline bowling and fielding and we should be winning this. Nobody can live with our batting line up when it fires.

We shall see. We lack a top spinner.

Thats the one sticking point, supposedly the pitches are going to be prepared to suit fast bowlers though so hopefully we'll just be using Moeen and Root to hold up an end in the middle overs.
And Rashid of course, but we don’t havea Zappa, Ashwin/Jadeja type to totally turn matches.

It'll be a fun watch whichever way it goes.

It's a really hard one to call. I feel like England are undercooked in terms of preparation but our squad is so good. The conditions don't suit us, but there will be a mix of pitches so that should help. Rashid's a very good bowler and we have options in Moeen, Root and Livingstone too. There's plenty of winning experience from the last world cup and T20 world cup. And we bat very deep, more so than most other teams.

I like the blend of explosiveness and more traditional cricketers too.

Looking forward to it. India and Pakistan should make the final 4. Then it's two of South Africa, Australia and England for me. I'd probably edge towards us and the Aussies, but SA can beat anyone on their day so we will see.

If England don't win it I just hope Australia and India don't either!

I see that Mongolia were all out for 41 chasing 300 + against Nepal. Their first international match.
