Nottingham has a dry forecast, with Canterbury raining mainly on Friday, so a draw for Kent looks likely with 13 points. With overs lost on day 1 Midds could be declaring on Friday to contrive a win. Should be interesting.

It just surprises me that sometimes 2 days of a full ground is lost and with the climate in this country playing test matches in May and September is asking for trouble. This money could not only be used to help the struggling county championship but it’s hospitality add the hot dog vans and everything that loses out too

World Cup starts today tough start for England new Zealand

Stokes unlikely to play either. Big game first up, winning it puts us in a great position early doors.

It's a hard tournament to call. India rightly favourites and I would probably go with England, Pakistan and Australia as the other teams to join them in the last 4...but on any given day the likes of South Africa and NZ could easily beat those sides.

I feel like England are a bit undercooked in terms of preparation in these conditions, but we have such depth in our batting we remain a dangerous side.

Lost the toss and put in to bat. Hopefully we get the balance right between attack and defence. It's a pretty packed squad for batting and bowling and NZ without Williamson and Ferguson will be weaker in my opinion. Hopefully we can get off to a good start, but batting 2nd gives NZ the early edge!
