Arsenal (A) - PL Post Match Thread

Didnt deserve to win it but also probably didnt deserve to lose it....

We are well off and especially creativly. Losing Rodri is a two fold problem....one defensively and as the pivot but also in that it means another player (today Bernardo) is filling in for him and it means we lose that players ability further forward.
(on a side not - if Kalvin Phillips hasnt got the message yet then i dont know what will be needed as Pep is picking an 18 year old right back ahead of him)

On top of that no one is stepping up for KDB and gundo...i heard lots at the start of the season about how kovacic would be that person - he aint...good player but he aint adding goals/assists - its not in his game and never has been.
Nunes (he aint been bad) - a luxury player and not one to win games
Foden - needs to be trusted more centrally so he can show whether he can step up or not
bernardo - again does ok in the pivot role but we need him further forward.

Gvardiol played well as did walker

The rest average....Haaland got absolutely nothing...he held the ball up well and passed well but absolutely nothing coming through the midfield to him.....and the less said about our wide players and what comes in from those positions, the better.

No complaints as fully expected a defeat given the state of flux we are in.
Actually did better than I expected and it had 0-0 all over it.
Stuffy winner.
Time to re set in 2 weeks with Rodders and Stones back.
Back to the 4 CH in defence with Walker out and Stones in the false role.
Was always gonna be hard this season after last years treble. I worry that the signings we have made are not good enough
Although it is too early to judge on the new signings, but Kova and Nunes does not look a game changers. They both good at passing but they seems to lack the abilities to create chances to score.

Thought we were pretty poor at the end of the day but Arsenal were barely better than that. Goal very reminiscent of Trossards against us in the charity shield, whopping deflection that was never going anywhere when he first hit it. Thought Lewis worked hard, couldn’t understand why he came off. As many have said there are 30 games left, Arsenal will have a shit few games as will spurs.

Only 4 shots and 1 on target shows the negative tactics one again, yes possession is great but if you don’t shoot you don’t score. Complete lack of urgency all game.

Good teams sometimes have a bad run of form and we need to keep our heads and let the boss work it out. I don’t think we have been dreadful in the three losses, just not dominant like we’re used to and luck has deserted us a little. I already prepared for a tricky season with the players who left and the injuries but probably would have accepted 6 wins out of 8 at the start.

People need to know we’re not winning three trophies this year, it could be one or none in my opinion.

Injuries are part of the game, they had their main man out, idiotic red cards can be avoided.

But hopefully it has shown what a huge over reliance we have on Rodri and it gets addressed quickly
No team can survive for very long with two key players missing. This is a first time we had lost both for one reason or another during a long period of games since Pep has arrived.

I remember reading about how Pep has gone big on players who are good at carrying the ball this summer. Nunez, Doku and Kovacic all are in the top percentile of players for that stat as were some of the other player we were linked with. And it's shown, because we seem to have too many players who don't have a world class pass on them and instead are relying on their own individual skills to get the ball up the pitch.

Poor that. I think they need to get in a huddle and give themselves a good talking to. A bit of “go again treble winners” mental fatigue? Thought the substitutions were right and actually about the right time. But we are not going to win those sorts of games went all of the front six give 5 out of 10 performances (Lewis aside). The idea of Erling tying up a few of their players is that the others take advantage of the space. Just didn’t happen. Anyway something needs to change and a course that will do with rodri and John Stone coming back. Arsenal can celebrate winning the league again for a little while. They won with another deflection. Which is being presented as a tactical masterclass! Jog on.

Rico Lewis was our best player and off he trots. I can forgive that substitution because the lads only 18. But buying Kovacic I cannot understand, he was shite and slow at Chelsea and nothing has changed at City. Whatever possessed us to buy him. Haaland was non existent today, Bernardo was left playing far too deep and as such left us short up front. Never threatened today, we were sat on a plate waiting for the sucker punch and sure enough it arrived.
