Great game just needs to add a few goals.
I just think this season is the first he has had real concrete defensive responsibilities to take care of ..witness his lung busting last second of the game tackle v Brighton.

In previous seasons he has had far more advanced positions..left wing right wing false 9...many have said he needs to be more disciplined and Pep I feel will have instructed him that way..the effort he put in against Forest after scoring ,and then playing centre mid for a whole 2nd half a man down,is ,imo, being over looked..

It's a big learning curve for him adjusting to new responsibilities this season..I think he is doing just fine.the headless chicken player has gone,we now have a new Foden, playing in a team with two out and out strikers. This changes everything.

Evolution.

He played far better in the second half. Worked his socks off on top of it. Love to see him score versus those twats.

Not his best game but that goal will mean an awful lot to him. The first of many at their place hopefully.

Played well. Not at his best but got a goal and always looked capable of doing something, especially in the second half.

Nothing came of it so I don't think we ever got a replay during the game, but did anyone happen to catch that insane moment of skill where Phil beautifully controlled a high ball and then before the ball hit the deck quickly flicked it over his opponent's head (think it may have been Rashford) and left him for dead? It was absolutely ridiculous

It’s knocking about on Twitter somewhere.

I think he's slowly becoming the player we want him to be which is quietly and confidently running the attacking side of our play by popping up all over the spaces where he sniffs them out in their defence. Nice to finally put the hype to one side and just let him get on with being a very, very good player that is still developing.

It was on 2 good 2 bad on MOTD2 last night. Fucking ace. The touch is outrageous but then to flick and run onto it...wow! Fernandes then came in to try and break his leg so Phil rightly left him to it.

Great performance from him, seems to have a good relationship with Alvarez and worked tirelessly all game. His movement into attacking areas is brilliant and his skill is top class. A bit more consistency and he will be unstoppable. I think back to the game against Wolves and when others are off it, that's where we need to see Phil go run the game and make things happen. It will come. Three of the front 4 yesterday are 23 and Doku is 21! Good luck world.
