Middle East Conflict

Take your ball and go home then.

It was clearly for emphasis and nothing more. No idea what garbage the “tabloid journalist” crack is, but you do you.
I will mate. It’s stood me in decent stead so far.

You not knowing what a tabloid journalist is a nonsense. It’s exactly why you post like you do. Your mind has been poisoned and it’s not nice conversing with you, so I’ll leave it there and allow others to debate with you, should they be arsed to do so.

Well, that's fine, except for what "began the whole thing". I watched three hours of the series "Israel and the Arabs - Elusive Peace" till the early hours (a follow up to the earlier series on what then was "the fifty years war") and October 7th was a continuation not a start. The failure of all the "road maps" to peace 25 years ago is just depressing.

"Might is right" is a pretty lousy philosophy at any time and has been responsible for many of the worst atrocities humanity has inflicted on itself over centuries. More liberal, more civilised minds, I imagine, would prefer the philosophy of "With great power comes great responsibility".

“But in terms of the information they’re providing, we often will not actually bring to air what they are telling us because I can’t confirm it,” he added. “And a lot of times, they’re lying. And so we do reach out. We try to do our due diligence on these stories and get as many perspectives and angles as possible. But when you’re dealing with a terror organization, it’s very challenging to get them to tell the truth and to provide accurate information.”

This is all fine of course - Hamas Delenda Est.

It isn't just terror organizations where it is "very challenging to get them to tell the truth and to provide accurate information." All kinds of organizations seem to have a problem telling the truth whilst providing accurate information: lying and manipulating information isn't a marker unique to "a terror organization" or even organizations at all.

As a result, there is a conviction in the army that they must demonstrate to the entire neighborhood — to Hezbollah in Lebanon, to the Houthis in Yemen, to the Islamic militias in Iraq to the Hamas and other fighters in the West Bank — that they will stop at nothing to reestablish the security of their borders. While the army insists that it is hewing to the laws of war, it wants to show that no one can out-crazy Israel to drive them from this region — even if the Israeli military has to defy the U.S. and even if they do not have any solid plan for governing Gaza the morning after the war.

November 9th opinion piece by Thomas Friedman, originally published in the New York Times.

Netanyahu and his far-right zealots have taken Israel on multiple flights of fancy in the last year: dividing the country and the army over the fraudulent judicial reform, bankrupting its future with massive investments in religious schools that teach no math and in West Bank Jewish settlements that teach no pluralism — while building up Hamas, which would never be a partner for peace, and tearing down the Palestinian Authority, the only possible partner for peace.

So the official Russian position is clear.

Establishing a sovereign Palestine on 1967 borders is key to resolving the conflict between Palestine and Israel, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a message to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

I see the Hamas sick bastards made a 12 year old hostage watch footage of people being slaughtered by Hamas "Freedom Fighters".
Nice.

Israel’s military and intelligence officials were given a highly detailed warning that Hamas was actively training to take over kibbutzim on the Gaza border and overrun military posts with the aim of inflicting substantial fatalities, according to reports in the Israeli media.

This story won't go away. This from The Guardian, today.

Article from a week ago from Haaretz for background:
The Women Soldiers Who Warned of a Pending Hamas Attack – and Were Ignored

So the official Russian position is clear.

Establishing a sovereign Palestine on 1967 borders is key to resolving the conflict between Palestine and Israel, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a message to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas.

Ah Putin, the great respecter of borders…

Another using poor Palestinian people for his own political ends.

Maybe he needs Hamas to go over to Donbas and feed themselves into his own meat grinder?

“All of our missiles, the ammunition, the precision-guided bombs, all the airplanes and bombs, it’s all from the U.S. The minute they turn off the tap, you can’t keep fighting. You have no capability. … Everyone understands that we can’t fight this war without the United States. Period.”

From earlier in the year, Netanyahu's view of what sovereignty means or could mean for the Palestinians.

From today.
