Think that goes for all football it did have an edge.
It was brilliant in the 80s etc.
Now it's watered-down boring full of tourists
Your recollection is skewed, possibly because the time you are referring to is your youth (we are all guilty of this btw).

Lots of games at Maine Road in the 80s the atmosphere was awful and many seasons in that decade the average attendance was around the 20,000 mark (Swales’ management of the figures notwithstanding).

The atmosphere this season has been flat but last season there were several games where it was amazing (Real, Arsenal, Liverpool and United for example) and as good as any atmosphere at Maine Road I went to apart from Charlton in ‘85 and united in ‘89. Everton in ‘81 would also be up there.

Fair enough.
Maybe not just atmosphere but the experience is now watered down

That's again based on your memories from being younger. I'm with you, it's all very sterile. Stupid kick off times due to everything being shuffled for TV revenue, it's just not the same as the days you could rely on a Saturday 3pm kick off and make your weekend plans around it.

But my kids love going these days, and it's nice to know that other than when the dippers are in town I don't have to worry too much about them getting their heads kicked in. All the light shows and loud music add to it for them.

The other thing to appreciate is that nothing is the same as it was in the ‘80s.

Football has evolved, for better or worse, to fit the world around it.

Wishing it was like it was in the ‘80s is an impossible dream.

Hated the eighties. Everything was fucking miserable. Manchester was a shit hole. Everything closed early. Sundays were fucking boring. Not surprised the Smiths thrived in such an environment.

Sundays were recovery days from a good session following City on a Saturday up and down the country.
Plus women had real tits in the 80s, and RAP music didn't fill every radio airwave.
I thought it was alright

On two of the 3 points you make, you are clearly listening to the wrong radio and looking at the worst tits ;-)

I don't have a problem with any kind of tits, big or small real or not. :) it's the big fucking eyelashes and lips that do my head in.

I'm confused.
It's not Klopps fault the crowd were quiet the other night.
It certainly wasn't the fans fault and yet I still can't make the connection to us, it MUST have been ours but how ?

Yeah, right.

You must have been with the wrong people at the wrong places if you hated the 80s! The music, the fashions, the entrepreneurial spirit of get off your arse and make it happen. Even the TV shows were classics! Following City home and away, I absolutely loved the 80s. Great times.
