Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Disagree completely. No intent. Just as it hits an arm it shouldn't automatically be a penalty imo. As every pro has just said on the TV. Should never be given for anyone. Even Pep is frustrated with the current law.

Same as the pen against Sterling for spuds and Micah at anfield should never have been given. Embarrassment for the game these type of decisions….
Is it a penalty? Yes.

Should it be a penalty? Probably not.

Blame those who have fucked up the rules.

Grealish handball penalty against the rags is still the worst I've seen.

Had to go out so watched it 60 minutes behind. It was always gonna be a tough game, and going behind made it even harder.

But the performance in the second half was absolutely brilliant.

That was a champions performance. The best team wins the league.

And we’re the best team in the world.

What a turn around

Given how the lads have performed recently I didn't think we'd have it in us, we've had this and our heads have dropped this season

But fair play, absolutely unreal

That's why no one counts us out!

Fantastic, hope we get more performances like the 2nd half today

Well it shouldnt be immaterial that's the whole point and the crux of the issue created by IFAB/PGMOL. The law as it is, is an arse, created by people who have limited understanding of the game. Its a shit show!! As every ex pro and both managers have all agreed on.

But you stay in the PGMOL camp if it makes you feel better!!
So if that was on the line and hit his arm and went clear, you dont think its a penalty?

To all the Everton fans that were crying and moaning about them being punished and wanting us to be dropped down to the lower divisions

Might I say (and I know I've been swearing a bit) kiss my arse hahahahahaha

Now bow down to the World Champions

Blues if you ever watch on Amaazon Prime again.

Go to audio settings and it gives you a choice of 2 audio settings.

Press enter and select option 2 which is "Stadium FX"

With this option you get all the build up/HT/Ft shit, but the match is just like being there, no commentary just rival fans chanting at each other...it's blissful.

Great win tonight fully deserved. CTID

the ridiculous debate about the penalty is overshadowing two fantastic goals by foden and silva, both beautifully clean and intelligent strikes, the correct decision made by the ref shouldnt overshadow those two pieces of quality
Thing is it's not a "ridiculous debate", it's a stupid rule, and we benefitted tonight (rightly), but the rule needs changing for me, the only slightly mitigating factor tonight was that it blocked a shot on goal, I even ended up (very briefly) feeling sorry for the referee, because he has no choice but to give it, but we've seen them given when not.

There's simply too many daft things in the current guidlines, and it seems to get more complicated by the season, which makes matters worse.

Anyway great result tonight after a quite sloppy first half.

Pickford is a twat with his antics If I was the ref I’d said you’ve got one minute to get on your goal line if he is not there when I blow whistle that’s his fault? no use booking him GK never get suspended for number of bookings Booking him only delays it longer so it after the kick

“The defending goalkeeper must remain on the goal line, facing the kicker, between the goalposts, until the ball is kicked. The goalkeeper must not behave in a way that unfairly distracts the kicker, e.g. delay the taking of the kick or touch the goalposts, crossbar or goal net

Different opinions, no issue there. But let's not get silly, no it wasn't both managers agreeing on it, Pep said he didn't see it. And the ex pros that agreed on it were Shearer who was a **** all game, the current Everton manager, the former Everton manager, and michael fucking owen. Clichy argued it was a Penalty. Not that it makes the point any more valid.

I don't see how it is even up for debate, blocks a shot on goal with an outstretched arm. Anything beyond that is just intellectual shithousery, and bet you it doesn't drag on anywhere near that if that is given against us.

People arguing the law is the problem, because one week it is given and the other it is not. That's not a problem with the law, that's an issue with application and poor refereeing.

I'll leave it at that, because there is far more to talk about in that game, and the pundits have clearly done their job in making that the big talking point, well fuck, that.
They all said/intimated the same to a man. Its a penalty under the current law but it shouldnt be. If your going to go with supporting PGMOL at least own it.

The same discussion was undertaken times about 10 with Grealish in the cup final, so this narrative it wouldn't be discussed if it went against City is frankly laughable.

The law is the problem. We have somehow thanks to PGMOL got to the position that any touch on an arm could easily be given as a penalty, where it should be the opposite and only cynical/deliberate acts should be penalised and not balls leathered from 2 yards away. Its making a mockery of the game!!

No Phillips needs to leave difference is he's been here a season and half where as Nunez has been here less than half a season. Ffs.

I bet Nunes has played more than Phillips has though.

The length of time someone has been here, there or anywhere is irrelevant.

Look at players who are at / have been at other clubs who are clearly not up to it.

Nunez, Hojlund, Elneny, Beto, Lamela for example.

We call them what they are. Bobbins.

We don’t sit here going “give him a season and a half” do we.

The blue tinted specs are mental on here at times.
