Joey Barton

Hes a twat dont get me wrong but i bet there is a hell of lot that agree with him without putting it so forcefully :(
Nothing against female pundits but there are a fair few that are there to tick boxes which is all wrong ................
It’s better than the systematic oppression of women in workplaces that has existed for decades.

His only point that holds any credence is that some pundits are not good enough. The rest is misogynistic tripe.

Spot on pal. Joey’s a wrong un but it doesn’t mean that everything he says is wrong.

And I think a lot of people miss the point about pundits - they aren’t there to offer any great tactical insight, most viewers don’t need that. What they are there for is to have a quick chat about the game as familiar faces and engaging personalities who (club allegiances aside) we enjoyed watching play the game and remember the big games they were involved in.

Anonymous, dull, earnest female pundits and co comms who we’d never heard of until they were foisted upon us and who can’t entertain us with little nuggets of information or regale us with stories about current managers or players because they’ve never encountered them just bring the mood right down.

I think you need to look up the job description for a pundit, then. Women can offer insights into the game today if they’ve played it, as much as Matt Murray, Matt Le Tissier, Roy Keane or Graeme Souness can. What insights are they going to give us in todays game considering they haven’t played it for 20 years plus?

I’d rather have differing view points, voices and experiences discussing the game, than a gentleman’s club laughing at inside jokes and arguing like mates down the pub.

The old Sky Sports News team that got taken apart, were fucking dreadful. All male. All played in the Premier League. All shite at their job as pundits. You can argue about quality of pundits until your face turns blue, but that’s not a gender issue.

I understand your view. Barton doesn't help himself but sometimes I recognise someone with a lot of demons. I don't feel sorry for him but I try not to be so judgemental. I feel much the same way about Wayne Rooney which I know makes me a minority on here.
I see no reason to feel sorry for Rooney. But by the same token, he is no way as obnoxious as Barton who has proven himself to be no more than a thug on numerous occasions. I find it more depressing that so many people follow this dickhead on social media as if he is some kind of life coach with something worthwhile to say.

With all due respect, I'm not sure you understand. Your comment was clearly unknowingly ironic in that the fact you posted it undermined your central argument.
Mainsplanning , wonderful

I clearly followed it up with saying dont share his tweets as that is the attention he lives for , i didnt say dont talk about him on his named thread

Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Michael Owen, Robbie Savage are all well past their best and dreadful pundits.

I might have apologised for 'mainsplaining'... if I knew what it was. Oh well, whatever it is, at least you think it's wonderful.

What gets me is the male pundits mostly played a long time ago , the game has changed , the fact they comment every game on our high line as if it is mad shows they have no understanding of how pep wants us to play . At least the women pundits played till very recently so what they have to say is much more interesting to me

Unlike Pep! Who played…a long time ago!

Women shouldn’t be commenting on football is not what he sets out to say.

His original point is there is people being given jobs in football to appease people and tick boxes based on their gender, sexuality, race etc and uses women commenting in football as an example.

It becomes his view that women shouldn’t be commenting on football because his reason for his original point is that you have to have played the game at a high level to do so which automatically means that in his eyes no women qualify and therefore shouldn’t comment on the game.

Once this has ran its course and it has no more legs left to run he will choose another demographic in a different area to try and enhance his point and stay relevant.

His direct quotes were that women shouldn’t be commenting on men’s football.

“Women shouldn't be talking with any kind of authority in the men's game”.

Please get your facts right before coming at a superior being.

I think you need to read my post more carefully before embarking on your little woke tirade. We don’t need insight, we just need a quick chat about the major talking points from characters who we recognise.

Your blanket dismissal of an entire team as well as a hugely respected luminary such as Souness tells me all I need to know about you.
