Kalvin Phillips

This is the reason why he hasn’t played much for us. You don’t do what he did in December 2022 and expect to get a second chance.

I've always thought there was more to what happened at that point. We let Phillips have surgery so he could be fit for the World Cup. He was ultimately called up but I don't think he appeared much, if at all. After the competition had finished, instead of returning to the club to train, he took the full 2 weeks off which those who had played in the tournament were entitled to. After this holiday was over with, he then returned to the club overweight. That's an awful impression to leave on a man like Pep. Phillips should have returned to the club within a couple of days of the World Cup, having not featured, and busted his arse off to prove his worth. He basically took a free unearned holiday having also not appeared for City for several months.

What I don't understand is why we don't force Phillips out when a legend like Joe Hart was forced to leave when Pep came because he doesn't play the way Pep wants? We could've got Rice if Phillips agreed to go to west ham but he thinks they're below him. Txiki should tell him that he has to go or we'll put him with the u23s. Not only has he been completely useless for us but poor Rodri is suffering as a result from being overplayed!
Because a massive attraction to players coming to us is how we deal with it when they go.
If a player wants to go we make it happen , getting good deals for them and us. We dont just fuck players off. Cancello the exception but no one is cast aside usually.

You know Cancelo case is really stinks when player like that who is major contributor for us in the last five season is forcefully booted out on loan from our team in middle of season.

Really shows no matter how good you are as player if your attitude is stinks then you will be forcefully out.

While Philips is not good enough as player but atleast he wil never try to disturb dressing room which is why City management never trying to force him out only to suggest/persuade that he should leave and join another team.

Nope, it doesn't work that way.
Players have a legal contract and decide when they leave or not.
Cancelo wanted out asap.
Phillips denied the call to look for a new club last summer and stayed. It seems he finally swallowed the bitter truth and will leave for his own sake.

Cancello wasnt going to be any where near the first team whether he liked it or not. He could refuse to leave but he would have been training with the academy. Or maybe even alone.

An English International player, one of the first names on Southgate's team sheet and well accustomed to playing alongside renowned names in the game, and obviously available for transfer at a price substantially below what we paid for him, yet no-one wants to know.
Something must have happened behind the scenes, something that we are not meant to know but that something is common enough knowledge to other clubs Manager's and Directors.
How else can it all be explained?

Easy. He had a bad injury and he returned less able than he was before. Turns out he’s nowhere near good enough. No skulls and daggers. Just not good enough to play possibly the most demanding role in a Pep team.

"bad injury "

He had a shoulder issue, unpleasant but could have been considerably worse and hardly any threat to his career.

Not good enough for the best teams and would be a big investment for the mid to lower Prem teams in terms of fee and (more so) wages.

Think that's all it is.

It was more than an "unpleasant shoulder issue". He needed invasive surgery on it and he was out for five months. The same thing basically saw Alvaro Negredo off and, as far as I can remember, he didn't need surgery. He scored 23 goals in 35 games between August and January in the 13/14 season but after that shoulder/back injury he picked up against West Ham in the cup it took him another two-and-a-half years (and over 100 more games) to score another 23 goals. And if Phillips' injury was even half as bad then you can see why his form and fitness have both gone off a cliff.

Didn't negredo have other issues though?
Like trouble with his Todger . Or where he had it.

I have fractured my shoulder socket and clavicle, that was 3 years ago and I am still not right. I am not a professional footballer but I am an avid runner and I am nowhere near I was before the injury, it effects the whole of that side of the body. since doing it I have had a run of muscle injuries on that side - which I never had before - bodies compensate for “big” injuries and it’s not something you think about, it’s subconscious, so this could be impacting Kalvin

He just isn’t good enough for us and that’s about it . Like I’ve said before playing for England and Leeds is nowhere near the level of Man City I mean when you think about it I would say Man City would win the World Cup if we went with our squad . Shane it didn’t work for the lad .
