The British Monarchy

It’s a very good portrait.

Some people say it’s a little busy in the background, certainly in comparison to the usual royal portrait, but the photographer said that he wanted the background to signify tradition and history.

It’s very good.

I might get one for my map room.

Next to the window, above the decanter?

Inspired.

Smoking jacket
Axminster carpet
Smell from the dead animals on the wall
The clatter of the silver tray against the polished buttons of the butler

A fuckin' massive portrait of the King staring down at any peasants who happen to walk in and notice if they haven't got their head bowed low enough.

Describes my lunch break fairly well.

Something to strive for in any case.

Standards are something you set yourself, not something you demand from other people with no connection to you.

You seem like a busy ****, and I'd guess that you probably iron your underwear and socks.
More inane nonsense from yourself.

Standards are for everyone - they form the basis of civilised society and unfortunately because of lazy, slovenly types like yourself, they’re on the slide and dragging the country down as a result.

Surely regulation is a synonym of standard and the party you support is in favour of deregulating as much as possible, which drives standards down far more than not having a portrait in a foyer.

You've made several assumptions without any evidence.

I think conservative voters and supporters of Brexit probably bear greater responsibility than anyone else tbh.

Not sure why just minding your own business about what other random members of the public wear is seen as treason.

My Mrs just came up with a scenario - what if this was not planned but an emergency event from which Kate did not recover. As a result of losing his mother as a youngster he announces that he will devote his life to his children and will not take to the throne and will step himself and his family out of the line of accession to live a quiet life when his father the King passes. Would that mean following the line if he would accept would that make Harry the Spare next in line? If so she said - "imagine the piss that would boil in some quarters. Queen Meghan anyone?"
