The British Monarchy

Exactly, he’s seemingly got a weird fascination with anyone that’s not 12th generation Anglo-Saxon which is obviously amusing as the only reason the house of Hannover was even inline to the thrown was their own British ancestry.

As for the “we pay for them” bollocks. Fine, do away with the civil list but give them back the Crown Estate. That will only cost the British taxpayer over £15bn.
Why would you give them the crown estate? Do you really think the Royal Family as individuals legitimately own the entire seabed around the United Kingdom?

Its history dates back to when the crown pretty much owned the whole country - and even a thousand years ago I think they'd have laughed at the theory that the ruler could step away from being head of state, but keep ownership of the country :)

Still, the Royal Family have managed to salt away hundreds of millions of their "own" private wealth, so I think they'd be just fine.

They’re not Germans. Born and bred here fella last time I checked. German ancestry (plus others) but unless you’re a fully paid up member of the National Front I can’t see how that would mither you.

We’re mostly all 45th generation Romans anyway. Except the gingers.

Well that’s your view and you’re welcome to it but I must say that I’m surprised that you missed the irony in your perspective inasmuch as their most fervent supporters and those most likely to have a union flag tattoo are indeed national front supporters and members of other racist & jingoistic organisations where Union flags and swastika’s are commonly paraded together.
In fact the royals deep appreciation of the Hitler and the nazi party is recorded for perpetuity in film footage of our now departed monarch being trained in how to give nazi salutes by her father George.
Out of respect for those truly mourning, rather than using recent events as an excuse to be proud serfs to an unelected family that lives above the law, I won’t embed a link to video but it doesn’t take much finding online if you want to expand your understanding.

And we’re not mostly Roman but that’s another topic ;-)

I voted to keep the monarchy.
I do believe the "Royal Family" should be slimmed down though.
The thing I liked about the Queen was that she never gave anything away, a figurehead in the true sense of the word. I don't want to hear about a Monarch's woes or any other issues, I can get that through "celebrities." I just want them to be a "Queen" or "King."

The Royal Family profile should just include those within the direct line of succession imho.

I can't understand why the footie was cancelled either, and as I have stated earlier this week it's just the pomp and ceremony that I like and want to keep, not the cap doffing sycophancy.

To draw an analogy which is simple and not a massive reflection of the situation.

We went to buy some wallpaper at Lancashire wallpaper and my wife pointed out some paper she liked for £40 a roll, I countered with a roll that was £3.50. She convinced me that it looked nice and it was worth the money just to have a bit of embellishment in the living room.

The royal family are an embellishment, I don't mean the Viscounts and the royals who aren't anywhere near the big job or of course the vultures residing in the house of lords.

Another analogy would be that you went to get some wallpaper, one was free and of your choosing and you had the ability to change it in the future if you didn't like it, the other was forced upon you and you had no say over it and could never change it. It did have a wonderful golden crown running across it though ;)

Expect a knock at the door later sunshine :)
