PL charge City for alleged breaches of financial rules

It’s a non-story.

Cererin says that he trusted the process of his commission and that they acted properly.

CAS thought differently.

End.
He's not said their process was correct, he's said their decision was correct.

Basically, even though CAS found they had no evidence, we're guilty anyway.

"We know we were right."

Erm, no you fucking weren't mate.

The problem has been the capture of the governing bodies by a group of clubs with a jealous, protectionist outlook which sees competition as an evil to be avoided at all costs rather than as a pathway to progress for the game.

Boom! There it is.

Look around the globe and find me a league anywhere near as competitive as the Premier League.

While you’re at it, look at the outsized relative revenues of the small handful of clubs in those leagues.

Therein lies the problem for the Red Tops! How do they skim the monies they desire WHILE still keeping the PL as the global spectacle it has become?

Answer: Create a situation where smaller clubs can be big enough to keep the illusion of competitiveness, WHILE ensuring none of those clubs actually has the financial wherewithal to usurp or unseat the power clubs. With the level of Red Top revenues, and the omission of “infrastructure” costs to enable them to expand their stadiums, and thus revenues, without any offsetting costs!

And I would point out that it is FFP and P&S which compels clubs to operate at a profitand punishes clubs for "overspending" on players. Clubs are in need of regulation but, I'm afraid experience leads to the conclusion that the law is rather better at it than football's governing bodies.

Their nightmare scenario.

He trusts their decision was correct. There’s a difference.

However, that nuance will be ignored and we’ll have 200 extra pages by lunchtime tomorrow.

I very much doubt it. We’ve journeyed way beyond that point. The outrage - manufactured or otherwise - from the public, the media, our rivals etc, would be absolutely biblical, and neither side would be able to pass it off as an acceptable outcome
That’s what I mean by face saving. I always felt that the changing of the goal posts and FFP fine in 2014 was a similar process. They are in too deep and need us to accept something to lessen the outcome, of course some will be never find it acceptable.

we need to be really careful of rejecting all forms of super league in favour of Uefa - Ceferin. these are not our friends at all. they are racists and hate us. Ceferin shuts up about PSG tho who have spent shit load more money in a league that has nowhere near similar revenues as PL and he made their owner head of Uefa board.
the original super league format was crazy but my trust in Uefa is non existant too.

even the court said Uefa has no monopoly over creating these type of tournaments and we got some financial penalty for daring to sign up for the original ESL format.

We wouldn't be found guilty of fraud though.

We'd be found to have not in acted the utmost good faith, of not providing accurate financial information that gives a true and fair view of the club’s financial position, in particular with respect to its revenue (including sponsorship revenue), its related parties and its operating costs.
Yes. It’s only that the implication of a certain verdict would be that we defrauded the PL. They cannot find us guilty of anything: this is a CIVIL dispute.
