Metrolink to / from Etihad

Arguably the most important'and fastest developing entertainment centre in the conurbation, with entirely predictable demand and load factors, yet critically under served by a 'not fit for purpose' loss making shambles.

Only in broken Britain !!

Cash paying on the bus can easily be resolved with a one off special single fare and encouragement of card payments.

You can use cards in other cities I’ve been to and tap in / out is the done thing on the tram. I don’t use them enough to know but surely Manchester buses take card payments?

course they do...but try reserving a seat on the 156 of a morning...see how far ya get.

They do but it's not tap in tap out (yet), cash is actually quicker if you've got the 2 quid ready. When paying by card you have to ask the driver what ticket you want, then they have to program the machine, then you have to lay your card or phone on the scanner, then you have to wait until the 3 green lights and red light come on, then you have to wait for the receipt to print out. For a £5 day ticket (in the Bee Bus Network) I buy it on the first bus this way but after that it's just waving the QR code under the reader, really fast. I could buy the pass beforehand via the app but I keep forgetting to do it.

However, tap in and tap out is the way to go because it just calculates the best price and gives the bus companies (or TfGM) the data about how many and where people are getting on and off the buses. This will help improve bus route planning. I think it's about another 2 years before all buses come under the Bee network, but some buses already have the tap-in/tap-out devices in place.

A special fare for a City to Town bus should be in place so everyone pays the same. Maybe some sort of subsidy or sponsorship in place to keep it a regular amount. If buses are well organised then it will keep tram and car use at City lower.

Everyone pays the same for every bus journey in Manchester as it is. It’s £2.

Grand. As I said, I rarely use them. I stop in town when I’m out with friends and I use the tram if I go to City.

Most people touching in for a one off fare should speed boarding. We need loads of buses, stewarded queues and, if possible, traffic in to town held to let them get off.

That's the new scheduled route in the evening after 8 pm. Altrincham to Piccadilly now extended to Etihad. In between Ashton to Eccles.
Staying in Altrincham for the Everton game tomorrow.
Is there a direct service to the game from there.

Not at tomorrow's match start and finish times. Change at Cornbrook into the every 6 minutes frequency service to Etihad Campus. / Ashton.

I’d be tempted to stay on until Deansgate and change there. You’re reducing your chance of getting a seat on one that’s come through from Eccles.

But I’ve seen them starting empty double specials from Deansgate, more than once. Presumably as it’s pretty much the only stop with more than two platforms, that they can hold one at for a while.

Seems the last couple of games a much improved service after the games not a lot of stacking of fans past the ticket barriers ,living in Devon means getting to Picc ASP so Ive got a fastrack ticket and its been strait down to the platform.
We have all done our share of moaning quite rightly but credit when its due would seem to be in order.

Metrolink are completely shit where MCFC are concerned.

Left my seat in Block 211 with 1 minute of injury time to go and sailed through the sheep pens at the Etihad Metrolink stop straight on to an Eccles tram. Alighted at Piccadilly and the board said there was a tram to Altrincham in 13 minutes, the time got down to 4 minutes then froze. Ten minutes later it arrived crammed full as it had come from the Stadium.

Prior to it arriving 2 empty doubles had come in both going to Bury, why couldn't they have sent one of them to Altrincham?

I am convinced that the people organising the tram scheduling are all Rag fans, or worse still Dippers.

Think you made a fatal mistake getting off at Piccadilly as all the Altrincham trams run from the Etihad after 6.30pm now on a Saturday (8pm weekdays, all-day Sunday). Always go as far as you can, Cornbrook in your case, before changing over as many on that packed tram will get off at the Gardens to swap to Bury/Rochdale services or Cornbrook for Didsbury/Eccles.

Tried going in the Ashton direction after noticing the queue going to town direction was massive.
Altrincham my final destination.
Still a shambles.
Waited fuck knows how long for a tram to Clayton Hall.
Off there eventually and got on an Tram to Cornbrook.
Got as far as the Etihad, everybody off broken window.
Luckily an Altrincham tram was next but fuck me that was a shocking service on the night.

Definitely best staying on until St. Peters at least, as you can pick up any coming from both Piccadilly and Victoria there.

I missed one from the ground by literally a couple of seconds and was about to start cursing when another one appeared before the first one had even fully left the platform.

Never seen that before.

Maybe I’ve just been lucky but I think they’ve improved this season.

Point I was making that no need to do the Clayton Hall diversion now ( done it myself before getting a fastback card) if the present after match service stays then shows maybe just maybe someone's listening.
