Don't forget these were Purple noses huge contenders of the day. And that's really how tough the rags had it
 
Its shameful that we have to continually listen to these dinosaurs harking back to the 'good old days' of jumpers for goalposts and hoofing it up to the big fella, they are a relic best confined to the past but no we have to keep hearing from the gpcs disciples of big sam, tony pulis, roy hodgson and all their media cronies, the world has moved on but they steadfastly refuse to denigrating any level of change or newness, we routinely ridicule focs shouting at clouds on here when the reality the press and football is absolutely full of them, pep, kdb and haaland have about as much in common with these fools as @bluemist does with making a relevant point ;) but yet we still employ them and let them commentate on stuff that is entirely beyond their realm of understanding, football punditry has turned into the gb news of sports.

Think both Pulis & Allardyce were also great pals with the GPC.
They hung on his every word.
Would be interesting to see how Bolton & Stoke did against the Rags ?
Remember the Panorama BBC Programme about Fergie's son becoming the preferred agent for MUFC transfers ? Well, it also named Allardyce's son (Craig) getting up to the same scam...

as i recall...'Big' Sam took a bit of umbrage to this documentary, and publicly stated that he was sending his lawyers right round to the BBC with a writ.....they never got there...

they will never learn will they, standard press release that everybody that comes to that club no matter what position is the bestest in the world to ever do it, did it with berada and now they are doing it with ashworth, im sure they are both competent operators but thats all, the press that they are getting both of them, is exactly the same as they do with the players and we see how that worked out.

What is this revolutionary "laptop full of information about players" nonsense? Surely any respectable scouting system runs software with a full database? And it presumably belongs to the club, not the scout / DOF (you listening Liverpool)? Or does Ashworth run it on Excel with information he has gathered himself from newspapers?

Smells like shameless PR to me.

Funny how this laptop full of every brilliant player has not worked out before at clubs this guy has worked at, but cos he’s going to the shittest rat infested leaking roof club he’s the new messiah.
 
The reason the CL has become boring is because it’s full of 2/3/4/5 placed clubs being in it and not on merit for winning the perspective leagues. What other sport rewards failure by losing out over a season.

It is bizarre that the press even ask for an opnion about Pep's football from failures like Allardyce, Pulis, and Hodgson. They have nothing to offer and are fixated on the past. The top of Englsh football has been run like an "old-boys" club for decades...a bit like the rest of the country.
 
So this ashworth who apparently is some kind of oracle but brought in caicedo who united passed up on before he went to brighton didnt they, football is a very very small world, there is very few players that everyone else doesnt know about and even if you do bring them in, it is no guarantee that they will work from one club to another, take caicedo looked brilliant at brighton but looks like hes never kicked a ball at chelsea, its just the typical standard press nonsense same as they did with berada and whoever else , they gas up every tiny bit of success and airbrush over the failures.
