She was entitled to apply for Bangladeshi citizenship but hadn’t, and although she would normally be granted citizenship under jus sanguinis, in this case the Bangladeshi government have publicly stated she would be refused if she did apply for it. The judges correctly stated that she wouldn’t be rendered stateless if her UK citizenship was revoked because she was entitled to apply for Bangladeshi citizenship because she was under 21 at the time. She didn’t apply so she didn’t secure her citizenship of Bangladesh. If she had, she’d still be one.

She’s not applying for Dutch citizenship, not sure where that has come from. Her husband suggested it as a potential course of action a few years ago but he’s in prison in Syria and no one has tried to progress it.

It’s not a viable option for her anyway. They were married when she was 15, the Dutch wouldn’t recognise it as a legitimate marriage.

Yes, 15 year olds can be saved. She won't be reintegrated into our society so we'll never know if she is reformed, but I like to think she has been.

If she was sincere she would have attempted to get out of Syria before daesh got defeated but she jumped ship when she knew it was all over .
