Really exciting thing is we now don’t have a test match until July. We play two very poor sides in West Indies and sri lanka at home. No doubt we will batter these sides and all will be well again only to then get pummelled by Australia in 18 months.

Honeymoon period over
Completely agree but still can’t wait for 2 days at the real Old Trafford in August

Shirley, the question has to be; how did we manage to win that first test in Hyderabad? It was clearly an anomaly.

We won it because one of our batters made an innings that put us in position to bowl at something to win the test match all the other test matches we didn't and it's all down to our batters! I bet Crawley thinks he did great but I'll put most the blame on him! Just because he got over fifty the most and never ever went on to put us in a commanding lead!

Much the same as in 2020-2021. Root scored 218 in Chennai and gave England the platform to win.

Bazball is just hype, a meaningless word to paper over fundamental failings. England embarrassingly recalled Moeen Ali in the summer to save their spin blushes and, having learned nothing from their last tour of India, arrived with untested youngsters and batsmen who simply don't have consistent staying power. I'm off to invest in some tulip bulbs; they're due a resurgence I hear..

Expected big defeat. 4-1 is better than 5-0, but we’re miles behind India and a fair way behind the Aussies.

Not sure it’s going to get any better any time soon.

The bowlers and especially the new spinners have been good it's the batters who have been around for ages and given loads of games and if you continually fail it's fine you keep your place

Which is part of the problem. We don’t have many young batsmen ready to play test cricket.

Agree, it's hard to find cricketer who want to play test match Crawley and Ducket is the best we can do! Am so disappointed with Crawley this series he has done so well with the opening partnerships with Ducket but never gone on and got a ton then go on and have a match winning innings! Maybe next few years he will go on and get those big scores!

Yep brooks for Bairstow and that's the batting line up..

James Rew looks a prospect down at Somerset, but he’s another keeper!

Crawley and Pope both have the shots, but their mentality isn’t consistently strong enough.
