Not playing Dias, a treble winning lynch pin, a leader, an organiser, intelligent, great in the air etc.etc. in a game of that magnitude and intensity....??
99.99% of the time Pep is of course bob on and has the trophies and records to prove it - but....
I know he was doing his "so, so proud" of his players act last week. But you do wonder if Dias's omission was collateral damage of him having the audacity to speak out about Tront Simpleton.
We've seen how he doesn't appreciate the input of others - telling no. 2's to sit back down, his face when Delph was saying his piece, the "sit down, nobody talk". What makes him great I guess - but once in a while......
I bet the players felt a bit like "what no Dias?" too.
To be fair mate he's blew a bit hot and cold this season at times. Akanji had a good game as his replacement as well.

Let's be honest with ourselves.

Based on that performance we were lucky to walk away with a point.

Makes Arsenal at home even more of a must win now.
Not for me mate, if that's how you feel then fine but, we had enough chances to win the game and it took a rare error from Nathan and a bad decision from Eddie for them to score.
When all is said and done I believe we deserved a draw at least in a very competitive game.

You mention Doku over a tackle but don’t mention Alvarez over 70 mins of misplaced passes etc hmm
Fair point but if doku had given that pen away there was no coming back from it
That was my point
But to be fair to doku he could of also won it when he hit the post

But agree Alvarez was shocking yesterday
Surprised he lasted so long before being hooked

Got to be fair mate Diaz was running riot second half and if he had his shooting boots on we would of been dead and buried

No complaints but yesterday was a wake up call that we are not quite what we were last season. We're competitive but not unstoppable; Liverpool were there for the taking.

Tactically Pep gambled on KDB/Haaland combination on the break, which makes sense as they're our two best attacking players, but they didn't deliver.

KDB sub felt like a changing of the guard to Phil.

Alvarez and Doku are young and will have mental wobbles/weaknesses in their game. Last season we'd have had Grealish, Mahrez or Gundo taking that place. Calmer, more experienced heads.

Fed up of Alvarez being shoehorned in and can we not get a specialist left back ?

I re-watched the game this morning, Rodri was actually immense in the first 25 minutes of the second half, battling it on his own against red swarm when everybody else was turning into jelly in front of him.. Kovacic really made it stable for us after he was on. If Pep hade hooked off Erling instead of Kev, with Doku Alvarez and Foden upfront we might have snatched it. Pep is really doing my head in this season.
Over thought it again

Akanji is brilliant - and it's a pity either has to sit out - but for that game - when more than having a good game - the mental side and the influencing and organising of those around and in front of you, the encouraging and cajoling, is imperative - "small margins" to quote the dodgy pharmacist next door. You never know, but I'd have put Dias in.

Every time I see doku challenge it’s a penalty! Amazed it was given

I’m sure all city fans have blanked it from memory & it actually was given & Liverpool won 2-1! lol maybe in another dimension.

That could cost Liverpool the title. Wonderful

Why didn’t doku head it away

If we win our next 2 games and get a decent draw in Europe then we’d be solid favourites for all 3 competitions. We won’t win all 3 I’m sure and either the league or CL would be amazing but no one could argue what a great position we’d be in.

We won the treble last season. I could dine on that for life. The players won it having already won the league twice in a row. The standards and consistency have been absolutely incredible. We beat the rags in the FA Cup final as part of it. It hasn't fully sunk in how spectacular it has been, and I'm looking forwards to the documentary to bask in that glory again. For the players, it's been a monumental effort to follow that up with the standards again this season. We're right in it yet again. We've had De Bruyne out for much of the season. Bernardo, Grealish, Stones missing at times. And Rodri suspended. Our club captain went in the summer and Mahrez who delivered a number of goals and assists too.

We've broken so many records with this side. No one has ever won 4 league titles in a row. It's fucking hard. And we're right there with a chance to do it. And to retain the CL. And to retain the FA Cup. You couldn't ask for more as a City fan. We could have played better yesterday, the side Pep picked maybe wasn't right. But it's Anfield and a point is a good result. We've had some bad results and missed opportunities but no different to previous campaigns. Beat Newcastle and we're back at Wembley in the Cup. We'll know our CL opposition and that is likely to be tough unless it's Dortmund/PSV. But it was tough last year. Next up is Arsenal in the league. Feels like win or bust. So let's fucking win.

Ok, fair enough. He could have played and had a stormer.

Rodri was our best player in the 1st half, too.

Unfortunately City always seem to make 1 mistake at Anfield that leads to a Liverpool goal. Ake’s short back pass being the latest mistake.

In hindsight Liverpool and their fans will feel Liverpool dropped 2 points at home. Just like we did in similar fashion at home against Chelsea. Liverpool fans were very quiet and subdued after the match coming out of Anfield. Coming away from Anfield with a point wasn’t a bad result in the end.

Doku could/should have headed it clear but he shit out of the challenge. Not for the first time if memory serves & Nunes is also guilty of the same thing
Worrying this type of behaviour it is not picked up by our scouts in my opinion
How would any scouting pick up if a potential player can head the ball correctly, in exactly that situation? I saw him head one the other week that stopped an attacking situation.

Do some people here not even play football? Sorry to the poster but wtf expectations you guys have nowadays.

I think he means they should identify if someone is frit of getting crunched.
