North Stand Construction Discussion

@jrb photos and experience confirms what we knew.

The development of Anfield mirrors what happened with the Old Trafford expansion decades ago. It is hard to see the PL being so amenable to accepting shortcomings of developments at the grounds of “lesser” clubs eg, a basic modern expectation of screens in an age of VAR being sacrificed for more seats or restricted views.

Most PL grounds have a standard pitch size of 105x68 metres. Liverpools 101x68 metres may not sound much different but is 272 sq m less which is significant at the top levels of football. When coupled with the closeness of fans to the pitch, it makes for a tighter, more claustrophobic space that suits Klopps style rather than Peps.

I would put a lot of the hype surrounding the atmosphere and excitement at Anfield down to this. Their owners have cashed in for a maximum ROI with the expansion in capacity rather than a new ground. Corners will have been cut. As the rags have found, it is a short term fix but with the quick, big returns their USA owners demand eager to cash in. It is clear they are not in it long term.

This will become more apparent once our North Stand development is complete. I think it will change expectations from stadiums for newer generations of fans. Like it or not, times are changing. The old days at Maine Road where toilets were an open outside area pissing against a wall collected by a gutter are long gone or even worse when urine flowed down the terraces at big games.
Ice been banging on about their pitch size for ages

Is this why VAR doesn't work at that end of the ground?

it is why their ground was not picked by UEFA for intl tournament so how can they are allowed to play UEFA club tournaments there ?

I thought all Premier League pitches had to be the same size ?

There are minimum sizes and certain rules and regulations but they don't apply to red shirts.

How can they be allowed to rebuild two sides of the ground and still not have large screens for VAR but promoted clubs must install big screens. One rule for red shirts and another for the rest.

How big is the Luton pitch it looks very small?

As a current NS2 dweller, can somebody point me to this plan? It must have passed me by.

GA+ in yellow labelled as Hospitality L01. From looking at the floor plans it's a separate bar area with some pub style tables and bar seating. But no separate toilet facilities which mean it's not a particularly premium offering and suggests it will be a pay as you go bar/food service and cost more than GA but perhaps not an eyewatering amount more. Great seat locations - the location you'd ideally want some hardcore fans draping banners from...but the stand does have built in support for large drop down banners which would cover the whole NS.

Chelsea, Palace, Everton, Fulham and Sheffield United. I don't think shirt colour has anything to do with it, a bit more blue than red.

There is no requirement to use Giant Screens for VAR.

Don't be a twat mate, it's a dig at the dippers and rags it doesn't have to be factual! ;)

Thanks.

Another crane to go after this one. And then a 5th one at a later date.

I'll nip down later in the week when the 3rd crane has been erected and take some pictures of the 3 cranes and the steel structure that has recently gone up.

The Spring and Summer months should see a lot of progress onsite. :-)
New hoarding going up tomorrow i believe, so you might get some decent pics?

And a real tight entrance

So how many more seats will be added to the North Stand I presume the 10.742 is in total including corporate etc ?
