The British Monarchy

Can see both sides of this to be honest.
Any "official" pic of the Royals should adhere to reality. She has obviously "doctored" it so that then leads to possible accusations of "manipulation" in the future with regards to them.

Feel sorry for her a little. Hopefully she will learn that her tinkering about is not the way to go, even on a family pic.

And I hope she is feeling better soon. Surgery that leaves you unable to do day to day stuff for 3 months isn't minor.

I agree entirely. She’s probably only guilty of being naive but one reason I‘ve taken to her more than yer average royal is that she seems relatively normal, natural and pleasant.

She shouldn‘t feel obliged to disclose highly personal medical info. She doesn‘t hold important executive office and her Indisposition is irrelevant to the running of the country.

That said, there’s a howling mob out there and she’s been around long enough to think things through more carefully next time. And where are her advisers?

It's only my opinion (obviously) but I think there is a transition going on and sometimes things clash horribly.
The Middleton family, by all accounts, allowed William to both see and experience "normality" in family life.
That clashed at the weekend.
Hopefully it will smooth out eventually.

There you go, bothsidesing it!

I'm in Italy at the minute and even their news channels were running with it every half hour. The banner headline was Fake Kate .... didn't understand the rest of it. Still none the wiser after logging in here.
Are the Juve fans still confident of getting Pep in the next 30 years? :-)

I am honestly not sure she had much to do with the photo (or much of what has occurred surrounding her operation and absence), so I don’t think much in the way of personal intent or mental state can be attributed to her in this situation. I think it is very likely her post about the poor photoshop was not even written by her (or she was advised to write and post that message after the photo was created and circulated).

Questions should be rightly asked of her advisors, and the Royal Household more broadly, for the shambolic handling of it all, as the recent photo debacle is really just a small part of the incompetent management of her and William’s family affairs.

I don’t think this would have been quite the scandal-in-the-making if she wasn’t the next Queen Consort and the newly coronated elderly King wasn’t already dealing with a serious health issue. Perhaps in normal circumstances there would be no reasonable expectation for advance announcement of her medically-related absence, but these are far from normal circumstances. I take the feedback I received from @Eccles Blue and @kaz7 that perhaps the full details need not be revealed, mind, but all of this could (and should) have been avoided by simply following a similar strategy to King Charles’ disclosure, which could have still protected their privacy.

Her advisors have badly let her and William down, especially by misunderstanding their relationship with their “subjects” and the current circumstances.

I always blame my advisors when things fuck up! Falls flat though when I realise I don’t have any! :-)

I’m not up to speed with the conspiracies so maybe this is already a popular theory but whatever is up with her health, she must look awful, really really ill, or having lost loads of weight because otherwise it would have been the easiest PR move in the world to just have released a legit photo from the same photoshoot, one of the ones the fake was apparently a composite of.

You’d kill the story dead, make conspiracy theorists look stupid and give her back her privacy while she recovers.

I see it slightly different from yourself.
I think it's as innocent as it sounds. She "tinkered" with a family pic and (wrongly) released it. I also think that any lack of "personal advisors" that may/should have surrounded it should be a good thing. The Wales' are trying to be more relative to the "common man/woman" and, if anything, this shows that they actually are.
I also think, as another woman, that her health issues are hers alone and it's really nobody else's business.
The desire for "news" (driven by social media and 24/7 shite) is the main issue here I think. It's rushed her into something that wasnt really necessary.

There's a case to be heard that the RF should be more "relevant" but this whole thing is just a non story.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a photo that hadn’t been tweaked in one way or another.
Online dating must be a fucking nightmare when you rock up expecting to meet the stunner who’s profile pic you clicked on turns out not quite as expected in person.,
She just needs to get on Insta and nobody would bat an eyelid at her family photoshopped pics.
That’ll show her to be down with the peasants as well so win win.

I obviously cannot speak to female experience and how that impacts what information is appropriate to be shared or not shared—I will defer to you, @Eccles Blue, @kaz7 and others on that—but if she is indeed generally in charge of the handling of the entire affair, than many more mistakes than just the poorly photoshopped picture have been made.

And I personally have a very difficult time believing they are truly operating independent of advisors and RH support. I understand the impression that want to give of being much more of the “common folk” then past members of the royal family (which is all political expedient), and the work they have done to try project that. But nothing about their actual lives (or their personalities, for that matter) would be manageable without robust assistance.

Which means they will have had guidance before, during, and after her what it now seems was pretty major surgery. And it is unclear if she was even well enough shortly after do undertake many of the actions that are seemingly now being attributed to her.

As I said, I would be exceedingly surprised if she or William were the main drivers of most of this (apart from perhaps make poor choices of which counsel they took).

Yes, the way in which it is being handled is problematic on so many levels, especially when you consider the people involved, who know better than perhaps anyone else on earth how the British people and press are likely going to react to situations like this, for better or worse.

I said earlier in the thread that the handling is so shambolic that it is essentially what you would do if you intentionally wanted to create conditions for scandal and conspiracy.

Imagine her creating an IG account now and posting another poorly photoshopped picture as the very first post.

IG would go down.

i saw the story and thought young woman wasnt happy with the way she looked and altered it, its being done a billion times everyday on social media, i actually thought fucking pathetic by the press, i mean who really gives a fuck
As I have said a few times, the photo is merely a small part of the shambolic handling of the entire situation. Not even the most important part, perhaps just the most nonsensical (especially when you consider who has supposedly done it).

People are focusing on it now (who knows, perhaps that is the point), but it is only one element of the incompetent management that has been on show.
