Loved that final !! Bob running on the pitch at the end !!I know you won’t want to hear this, but that 1973 Cup final is probably my favourite non-City game. Second division Sunderland up against Revie's dirty Leeds at the height of their power.
I still clearly remember Ian Porterfield scoring, me jumping up, and shouting, "Yes!" and my Mum cautioning me that "There’s still a long way to go".
A brilliant day.
Gary Owen was mint too.Dennis on one wing and Barnes on the other, those were the days.

Yep, Kiddo at centre-forward, very tidy front 3Dennis on one wing and Barnes on the other, those were the days.
Indeed they were. And then we added Big Joe to the mix. Loved that whole period. What a side they were.Yep, Kiddo at centre-forward, very tidy front 3
They were excellent and very entertaining. They should have won more. Maybe they would have done if Skip had been left in charge.Indeed they were. And then we added Big Joe to the mix. Loved that whole period. What a side they were.
It’s funny because like you I loved watching that team but we were pipped in 76-77 in part because of the daft oh vs dippers but also because there were so many 0-0 draws at home, I can remember at least 3 or 4.They were excellent and very entertaining. They should have won more. Maybe they would have done if Skip had been left in charge.
It took us over 40 years but we got our revenge on the dippers pipping us by a point to the league.
Yep was there with my mate.Met him on a Junior Blues tour, I stayed behind to talk to him while the guided party went elsewhere.
In the days before mobiles I held the LC with him in the boardroom.
Gutted isn't the word when he left us, IIRC his last game was a third replay at the swamp v Luton also in the LC, which I watched from the Stretford End.
