Spoke to a private practice solicitor recently who was responsible for helping draft some legislation a few years back, who told me the Parliamentary draftsmen are top class lawyers. Only seriousl smart graduates need apply. They have to be in the job for at least five years before they get directly involved in drafting legislation.
It’s a huge deal when you think about it!
That's what has always amused me about the narrative of City's 'expensive lawyers' somehow making it an unfair battle. It's not like the Premier League have got a bunch of Newly Qualified lawyers working on it. That organisation is hardly short of a few quid either!
