My theory is that the glory hunting fans of both Liverpool and United have such little “success” in their life outside of football and they’ve convinced themselves that if they support them hard enough they have earned the success too. That way as long as United/Liverpool are winning, they too are winning and can feel good about themselves.

It’s very sad when you think about it
